Fremantle defender Alex Pearce is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left ankle.

Pearce suffered a season-ending ankle injury in round 11 against Collingwood at the MCG

'Alex will have a minor procedure on his left ankle, and we are hopeful that he will return to football training in late February...

Last time I had a "minor procedure" I was off work for a day. Three months before he even returns to training is not a "minor procedure". God forbid that he doesn't then go on the injury list as 2-4 weeks, as that will be season over.

Here we go again....the best medical team in the business.
Maybe we should rehash the thread “recurrent injuries” - it has been such a player the few years. I wonder what the “minor procedure” is ? Maybe we should send him to Germany....

"minor", "hopeful", "late"

What's there not to be confident about?

Is it 3 times in the past 18 months that the club has announced a review of the medical/conditioning staff without mentioning anything about how they were going to review them or the outcome of the reviews? What has been the result of these and what have they changed?

Only the same thing continues to happen with injuries recurring and players spending far too much time on the sidelines in rehab and unable to build fitness. There's absolutely no transparency from the club as they sweep everything under the carpet.

I imagine the Pearce re-injury was only announced after Butters mentioned not being able to move in with him as he was over in Melbourne at the AMM. It probably raised a few questions since Pearce isn't from Melbourne so the club had to announce the injury they were trying to cover up. RL/Steve may be gone but there's still plenty of snake oil salesman running the club.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Agree entirely Biz. Yet another failure to manage an injury, this yet another kick in the guts for all and especially Alex.

Members & sponsors should be calling for an external review of the medicos and physio staff, since the internal reviews have clearly achieved nothing.

Did anyone mention this ongoing debacle at the AGM?

yeah some guy got up and asked about the supposed review process and what had happened. Dale Alcock was a bit cagey with his answer.... it has been done, but it is ongoing, some changes have been made - to personnel, to responsibilities, and to procedures, but he didn't go in to details.

Scans raised a concern.

This is a recurring bone break in the same spot.

Pearce 2020 = stuffed! This is not meant to happen until at least 20 February.

Feed the boy some milk and shell grit for pity's sake. He's not vegan, is he? Suck on chunks of limestone in your spare time.

This is becoming so frustrating and tedious...same old story. Heads must roll.
How many more good players will be sacrificed with our S&C team??
What about Nathan Wilson - struggled all second half of the year with foot injury and only just had surgery.
Add him to Tabs, Hogan, Bennell, Logue and many more before them all mismanaged...
This latest club statement released at 12.30am Melb time on a Wed night assuring us it is only a minor procedure - He cant train until late Feb FFS ( and that is freos best hope) more like mid July on their previous accuracy.
Season over for Pearce again and anything sooner is a bonus.
If anyone in the media cared about Freo there would be big questions asked..
He is now a senior player in the leadership group who is an essential part of our climb up the ladder.

You know the worse thing - The weags down the road who play at the same ground and also have a fresh new hard training ground have players break down every week and they miraciously get up week after week and perform at their best, some without pre seasons.
We need to poach some medical staff from the dark side.

Once JL gets himself established in the job, I can't see him putting up with the ridiculous situation we have endured for the last few years. He will sort it.
