This is nice. Does that mean likely 7, 8 and burn the rest for Henry when that bid comes, as he is extremely unlikely to be bid in the top six?

I’m not sure I like that deal. Did we really just trade pick 22 to move from pick 10 to pick 8 ? I would of thought a live trade on the day if a bid came for Henry prior to pick 10 would of been more logical... So what do we do now if a bid come for him before pick 7 ?

Good question expat - I dont believe thats the case.
We would receive the residual as a new pick at around 54..

Its all unlikely now by the looks

We now sit with 7, 8, 49, 58, 69, 79, 83. That's only 467 points after our second pick. I'm not sure if we can use that to point match for Henry (its equivalent to a discounted pick 29), -rather we may have to pull the trigger at 8 :(. Or do more horsetrading of future picks

This pick swap is definitely madness. We've given away picks 10, 22 and a future third round selection for picks 8 and 49.

That's just dumb and a waste to move 2 spots and ahead of 2 club's potential bids on Henry. If a bid still comes before 7, we've completely stuffed up but even if they don't, I'd much prefer a trade on the day to include a swap of pick 10 with another club who has multiple picks.

Pick 22 was still very valuable to us, if not for a player but to match the points on a Henry bid. Now when a bid comes for Henry at 9/10, we will go into a deficit for the 2020 draft with our picks this year pushed back a long way too. Not only do we need the points in 2020 for multiple academy selections, there's some good WA talent around in this draft that we're now likely to miss out on. I can't understand this move.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I think the most interesting part of this deal for Freo is we can now trade our future first round pick due to a future forth round pick coming back to us in that deal. Expect next years first round pick to be traded prior to draft night or on the night to get us get more top 20 picks this year. I think Bell and co are after all the WA boys...

On the face of it certainly burned some point value.

Bizkit, they clearly think they need eight. They clearly want Henry and don't think he'll go too early. What it tells me is that they think they can get (and are happy to do it) Henry at 22 and have accumulated the points to match a bid around that pick. I think they are after Jackson or Kemp with 7 and 8. And will get Henry with the points from those later picks.

That's a haul!

Sorry Bozza, didn't mean to like that last post. I think this deal is ok.

I guess, at the end of the day, do we only really want 3 players from the NAB draft and then 1 or 2 rookies? Or do we want more than 3 players from the NAB draft?

Poker indeed.
They just went all in on no one bidding on Henry picks 1-6.

The pressure to get quality players at 7 and 8 huge. (And then Henry and a point deficit for 2020).

Most the pundits have loads of Vic Country kids in that 3-10 range.

Possible means we don’t get any of Jackson (gone early), Robertson, Taylor, Sharp, and Rivers.

Press release would imply no more deals but wonder if Geel or Port come at the club with a whole bundle of picks for 7 and 8.

Here's another way to look at it. We gave up Ed Langdon for peanuts, and have then used that plus some loose change to move 2 spots up the draft order.

Pick 22 (Langdon) and pick 10 for pick 8. That's bad trading.

In Bell we trust. Stay Calm - we are yet to see the finished project.
We will get 3 jets at least out of this part of the draft. (speed and spread is going to be priortised by the sounds - Ash, Sharp & Henry) Theres no other reason Sharp toured the facility earlier in the week.
Then stand By for our next years first rounder to be traded draft night for two top 20 picks in this draft after the Henry bid.
Most clubs will jump at that given we would be expected to finish bottom 6 next year in their eyes.
Then we pounce on Rivers & Taylor etc meaning 5 jets into the squad..with a couple of late gems still available wth picks beyond 75..

We need 2020 picks for our NGA kids Western and the Walker twins. A huge points deficit and Freo trading out our future picks is short sighted and dumb.
