Yeti, Lillee could well be an outlier in the statistical study. We seem to have plenty of cases in the last 5 years where a problem with biomechanicals was perceived, and when that perception was acted on, things got worse.

Bewley's kicking did look good. Only problem being that he hardly got hold of the ball enough to show it.

Which cases?

And biomechanics isn't the solution to everything. It's a tool. It's an idea that someone tried and we won games of football because of it.

Not referring specifically to Freo, or for that matter footy.

Lillee's problems were more than stress fractures, he had surgery (Laminectomy) to relieve pressure on the spinal column, my brother had the same surgery at about the same time.

Gemini, a laminectomy was probably required because of damage to the cartilage caused by the stress fractures. I've had two of them and they are not fun.

Tragic could probably explain better but when the cartilage gets damaged, it can press against the spinal cord and cause a fair amount of pain.

The fact that Lillee could recover from that and adjust his running and bowling is a testament both to him and the people who helped him get there.

Biomechanics input is icing on the cake. As Shane said, it's not the answer to everything. What it can do is correct actions that lead to stress type injuries. Player availability is one important component in a successful season

Lillee was forced by injury to readjust his style of running/bowling. These days anyone who does not confirm to the perfect technique model is put through remodeling. Sometimes it works, more often it does not.

Why do you think that is? Maybe it's because clubs hire people who don't understand what they're teaching? Because they hire their mates.

Now I don't know what to think or who to blame. Think I will go and have a coffee.

Read this while sipping my long black;

Fun, Fun, Fun.

seems to confirm the opinion of some of the biased fans on D/L.

It seems so obvious, get the blokes fit by getting them to run around kicking, tackling, handballing etc rather than just running.

Obviously not as obvious as you think, DocD.

What, are they sprinting from the back flank to the fwd pocket to drill goals or something?

With this interview and Brayshaw's last week, I'm concerned at the amount of wood touching that is going on.
