He looks to me to be another Daniel Rich, suited to under-age footy, but may be found out at the next level.

Although I have been wrong before.

Robertson is elite at some things and not so at others. That's probably why he's expected to go in the early teens opposed to right up the top. If he had some more speed and kicked a bit better, everyone would be after him.

Unfortunately, they are some big areas that can restrict a player's development at AFL level. In Fyfe, Blakely, Brayshaw, Crowden, Banfield and Valente, I feel like we have that area covered. It's the speed and kicking I'd rather look to around there (although Henry does help with that).
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Current prediction (ESPN):
pick 7 Lachie Ash (defender/midfield) 186/80
pick 8 (matching Carlton's bid) Liam Henry 179/67
pick 24 (down from 22 with matching bid) Will Day (midfield) 187/70

These Victorian media phantom drafts are always good for a laugh, we're going to pick Lachie Ash at Pick 7 when Luke Jackson, Deven Robertson, Trent Rivers, Jeremy Sharp and Brodie Kemp are all still available and no one has put in a bid for Liam Henry. I know the kid may be good but really I don't think they have a feel for the situation.

That's what I would do if I was list manager. Pick at Lachie Ash at 7 but we probably wont get an idea till a day or two before the draft.

Yes local counts but if in your rankings you had Ash at 7 and Robertson at 12 would you do it...we need skill and speed

Henry and Ash are probably the best kicks with genuine leg speed. Hayden Young is probably the best kick in the draft but might lack a little bit of pace and is more of a marking player similar to Luke Ryan. I agree with what someone said that Deven Robertson might be similar to Andy Brayshaw which we probably don't need another of. It will be interesting to see if Trent Rivers actually goes before Deven Robertson on draft night.

Everyone has an opinion, here's mine.

i. Liam Henry above all others. Once he's with us, the rest will fall into place.

ii. I'm not surprised that many of those discussing the draft speak of Luke Jackson as a ruck or a ruck-forward. I don't see him as that, I just see him as a bloody good footballer. I would have him either in my midfield or at half forward. I've seen him in the ruck but he's wasted there. He could be a game changer - he should be someone we are targeting.

IMHO sharp is the Smokey in this draft, played most of the season in the bigs against men and acquitted himself quite well, something none of the other prospects have done. Was a standout in last years 17 and under pre-grand final game, has speed, endurance and a good kick.

For what it's worth re Jackson..

Mark Blicavs is 198cm, Can ruck, can play mid, wing, tagger, has spent time forward and turned into in a pretty decent defender. Geelong's ruck problem is their best ruckman is now a key back..

So if Jackson is solid in the ruck and equally good at ground level.. why wouldn't you consider him if available?

We can’t go past Jackson with our first pick if he is still there. I hope Melbourne hang onto pick 3.

Speaking of Jackson, the AFL have provided a timely look at him here.

I do like Jackson and would be happy to have him on the list. He's trained with Freo a lot so the coaching staff and recruiters should know everything about him. I'm not sure he's exactly what we need but given the number of injuries our tall players seem to deal with, more depth could be a very good thing.

I've long touted Sharp as my smokey who fits pretty much every need we have. Unfortunately I don't think we'll have a pick where he's likely to go and it would be too much of a stretch to grab him at 10 unless we do some wheeling and dealing with picks due to a Henry bid. He is very fast, very agile, a fantastic kick and has a big body (even though he doesn't use it as much in a contest as he should). I can see him being a star of the comp if he ever gets that inside game going but his work in the EF league side late in the year proves he has the toughness to compete.
