Aish is the Zac D of our latest head coach appointment so is seen to have potential. If he plays half as many games with us as the Fist, then you'd say we did all right. However I read with interest these informed posts on the quality of draftees out there. We should be playing the long game with the draft, irrespective of the coach's, CEOs, or captain's hort term prerogatives. There are no short cuts to getting in quality

I don't get how using a top pick to get a top player in the draft is a lose for a club.

Rewind a couple of years and some where saying that pick 23 was way to much for Brad Hill and he was 23 years of age so he wouldn't have much improvement in him. So you never know what can happen with Aish. He seems exactly the same profile as Reece Conca. I really have no idea how he will go but I have my fingers crossed.

Using pick 23 on Hill had nothing to do with his ability, it was all about being able to get him cheaper the following year when he was out of contract. We could have retained 23 and picked up a quality kid while getting Hill cheaper the year after with the threat of picking him up for nothing if the Hawks didn't deal with us.

Given we were rubbish again in Hill's first year, waiting a year didn't matter at all to us so there was no need to get him in asap.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Landing Hill was a good distraction from how crap Freo were, wasn't it?
