Bit late to the party, my apologies. I’ve been distracted by things like Brad Ebert showing up at work and showing us all how to stand up, sit down and do shoulder rolls...
but I digress.

JLo is fantastic news. After such a long period in the tunnel of doom perhaps the FFC has turned a corner and good times are going to roll again.

Of course there are memories of JLo the player... my favourite is probably little known and devoid of fanfare. Freo took on Carlton at Subi when they were reigning premiers on something like a 21 game winning streak and pre game, while everyone else was going through the ballet stretches and goal kicking flourishes at the 3 tier end, JLo was just sitting out there in the middle legs crossed staring at Carlton the way a leopard stares at a new born antelope on he savannah.

Hungry. Intense. Poised...

Yeah. We won. Totally unfancied. Probably on a 20 game losing streak at the time.

Like a leopard.

We’re on a winner here folks.

Did you watch "Gallipoli" again last night, GS?

But yeah, I do get what you mean, he has a will to win.

Good call in terms of club and winning the supporter/membership base. He's had a plenty long apprenticeship with clubs who are where we want to be.

Any word on whether long sleeve guernseys will be compulsory next year?

AV, I think JL will let the players make some decisions for themselves.

I like what I am hearing so far, this is from the Fyfe interview on FFC website....
“It’s just different, Justin is a connector, he’s a person who likes to build relationships, get to know everyone and build that culture, build that environment,” Fyfe said.

“His view on the game is different to what Ross (Lyon’s) was. Justin has a view that really looks at opportunity and ways to score and potentially a bit more free-flowing, and that’s the way we’re training at the moment.

“That’s partly because of the way the game is going, so all teams are trying to look at new avenues to score, open it up and have less congestion around stoppages.

“He’s different, we try not to compare, there’s a lot of good elements about what we’re doing and the proof in the pudding will be once we start playing games.”

I like Fyfe and Longmuir but before you go moving from one cult to the next, keep in mind that Fyfe is a rich kid from the country who has spent his entire life in institutions.

Is freo footy club an institution?

The fact that Longmuir is planning to play the game to score more goals than the opposition, (not to force the opposition to score less goals than your team) which is, I believe, the fundamental object of the game since the 19th century, leads me to believe this is not just another cult, but a return to the real, pure, game.

If you're a footballer a football club is an institution. They look after everything so you can concentrate on the football playing.
