Doesn't suprise me one little bit...

"Ryan Nyhuis is a strong chance to reignite his career interstate, with several interstate clubs inquiring about the de-listed Fremantle defender... The Weekend West understands Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide and Carlton, who Nyhuis supported growing up, have shown interest in him."

Interstate interest in discarded Fremantle Dockers defender Ryan Nyhuis

Like I said when he left, if he isn’t in our best 30 players we must have a freakin awesome list. How he gets delisted in front of some guys who have shown that they are never going to play regular AFL is beyond me. At worst he would be a great player to add depth while also having the potential to be in your best 22 in the future.

Nyhuis was out of contract. He’s better than some of the other players on the list but they are contracted for next year. North is the exception, and I am surprised he hasn’t been cut yet.

Amidst all the firing the club has been doing I hope they haven’t forgotten about the people that have built the current list. The depth is probably the worst in the league.

I could easily be wrong. I was wrong about where we would finish this year as I thought second last was a possibility and I had us bottom four on the dockerland season predictions thread. I thought we did okay all things considered.

I am far bleaker about our list than others on here although there were some successes. Hughes became a player this season, Tucker improved and i am excited about him, although a bit disappointed he only signed for 2 and not 3. Lobb was good and Brayshaw improved as the season wore on. But as soon as we had an injury or two everything fell apart. Our depth players just simply are not good enough, although i concede there is a chance some will improve.
Both Giro and Crowden have been tried and don’t look up to it, although they have youth on their side. North can’t kick from what others have said. Nyhuis never set the world on fire and had a couple of shockers in the main team. Meek and Dixon look underwhelming. Who knows with Sturt and Valente, but bear in mind they were high picks.
The biggest mistakes however have been the mature age players. Surely recruiters pick these players because they can make an immediate impact. Jones, Schulz, Bewley, Banfield and Switkowski have all been poor. I am not seeing long term afl players in this group. Switkowski possibly but his kicking is terrible.

When David Parkin went for the Sydney job many years ago the board asked him what he thought of the list and instead of answering he asked them what they thought. They all thought they should be playing finals the next year. He disagreed and said no thanks to the job. I think our new coach is on a hiding to nothing for a couple of years. But who knows. At times this year Freo looked fantastic and at other times we looked like the worst team in the competition. I feel sorry for Fyfe, Walters, Mundy etc because I don’t see success on the horizon.

For those continually carrying on about what a crap list we have it might be worth mentioning that we beat 3 of the 4 remaining sides in the finals. We will lose Brad Hill, true, but Ed Langdon is replaceable as his continual turnovers were at times a liability. The replacing of Brad Hill may come from within our list as a new coach looks at their abilities through new eyes and a more open approach to allowing players to play with a bit more flair and freedom. Alternatively, if we do obtain Tim Kelly he may partially cover Hill's absence.

as stated in previous posts over the last month or so Nyhuis is our best one on one defender , to let him go is a big mistake and to make matters worse we get nothing for him
this is matty deboer all over again, interesting to note all the paper talk now is how the pig is currently the best tagger in the AFL and so important to gws, thanks roly and bond for letting him go
belly why did you let nyhuis go so quickly ???

Nyhuis was a rookie and had been on the rookie list for the maximum length of time so I’m not even sure we could have traded him.
I thought he was worth upgrading to the main list but clearly those two missed kicks a few games back stuck in the minds of the decision makers and he’s gone.
I think he has more to offer but he’s no Matty De Boer.

Everyone seems to forget when he just froze and dropped the ball at his feet. Sorry to see him go (and good luck Ryan) but quit carrying on like he's Andrew McLeod. He ain't.

think he only froze because he knew any error at all was likely to end of his career at Freo . Roly never gave him a decent run at it
Polly how many goals would Ryan kick against you in a WAFL GF Nyhuis beat him every time not to mention Robbie Gray
If we were in a GF against the tigers and dusty was fwd pocket who would you match up against him, sometimes you need purely stoppers

A bit harsh to pick out one mistake a player, any player makes. If we were to do that as Fremantle supporters it would be a put down fest.
And if one mistake is a reason for delisting someone we would be battling to field a side.

Yes OGS, that one mistake. One thing Ross was not good at was building confidence in players. And lack of confidence leads to really stupid mistakes - like freezing. I don't think Nyhuis was a world-beater, but I reckon he'll do ok at another club, and I hope he does.
