Said it before but he would be a great coach for us!!! Look at his game on Sat night and how he can read the play
Even if we could get him as the main assistant coach but then again probably every club chasing him
If we cant win him as assistant what about Voss ie how would he go coaching the mids , i think he could even take Nat to a higher level

I’ve been on record as backing Hodge for a left field option as a playing coach....... now that you’ve nodded off I’m backing Sumich with Woosha as a tactical advisor !!

Hodges is the best option for us. A brilliant tactian and respected by players. He will be the next Lee Matthews. If our board had half a brain they grab him. Our board though are brainless.

Either Hodge or Voss would be great.

Nothing wrong with having a tactician on hand during games but isn't our main problem we need to solve. What the new coach needs to get right first and foremost is what goes on during the week down at the ETAF.

Training sessions should concentrate on the following
1. skills
2. skills
3. skills
4. skills
and if there's time left in the day
5. set plays at stoppages.

On field tactics will get sorted out by the team leaders during games if they're allowed to.

You got the same scriptwriter as the labor party, back in '75, Shane? The one that came up with "Goughs Going (,) Great"

To be honest for the first time in my life I hope the Pies win the GF! (ugh!) Why? because the bloke we want as coach, Justin Longmuir, is the senior assistant coach there. His experience of and influence on a Pies win will be a huge plus for us. Hodge will be a great coach but he's a few years behind Longmuir in coaching per se. Longmuir has done his apprenticeship at WC and Collingwood, one could not ask for better experience. And he will have the respect of players.

I think this thread is about having Hodge or Voss as an assistant which would be great if JLo was the senior coach.

if that was the case how could we fail going forward, finally some football nous
if we cant get hodge what about sam mitchell, yes didnt like him as a player and particularly when he was at slime but think he is well grounded and has a lot of football smarts (hawks probably wouldnt let him go but it would be a great coup for us)

Hodge isn't coming to Perth, he's got media and coaching gigs lined up by the truckload back in Melbourne. He's only in Brisbane because they are a chance at finals, gave him an absolute tonne of cash and allowed him to continue his media gigs.

Why would he come to the fishbowl of Perth for an assistant role where he won't get a players salary like he does now or the media gigs he can over east?!
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I don't recall it being recapped on here, but 2 Saturdays ago on ABC grandstand, Michael Walters gave a final Freo interview, where he was asked about what they should change next year.
The immediate response was: train skills during the pre-season, He then let slip that they had only starting training skills midway through the season.
I paused with a spoonful of cereal halfway to my mouth.
What an incredible statement, corroborating much of the criticism on this site of our coaching strategies

To the new coach and everyone left in the coaching department: stop whatever you're doing and listen to Mikey!
Some good fresh faces seem to be out there. Hodge, Jlo. I hope the top job goes to one of those two, frankly. Hodge would be awesome.
