It's a lot harder carrying a team on your back for a season than being a part of a backline that has plenty of other similar players.
Notice they're not complaining about the Big Mac Govern getting in even though he had an average season.

Have you heard interviews by WA reps on All Australian and Hall Of Mythical Victorian Past committees.
Polite, frustrating and window dressing.
On 12 April 2018, the AFL, Victorian Government and Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) announced that the MCG would continue to host the Grand Final until at least 2057.
Hello?
It reeks FIFA and Olympic Presidents who never has a challenger when term election comes up.

I was quite embarrased last night to hear 360's gums flapping about the Captaincy. The fact that Hurn didn't even turn up to the event says it all that he isn't even worthy of the accolade let alone vice captaincy. But Kudos to Chris Robinson in this article... All-Australian selectors right last year’s wrong by choosing AFL skipper as captain.

"Fyfe’s side may have finished 13th, but the 2015 Brownlow Medallist led by example with aplomb. How many times did we see the Dockers skipper put the team on his back to either inspire a narrow victory or keep his side in the hunt?

The win over top-two finishers Brisbane in Round 10 will rightly be remembered for Michael Walters’ late heroics. But a quarter earlier, Fyfe’s ragdolling of former teammate Lachie Neale made a huge statement that the Dockers would be standing tall.

How about playing with an arm sleeve to deal with the aftermath of an inflamed bursa, which was serious enough to put him back in hospital later in the season due to an infection? Or the shoulder injury against the Hawks in Launceston that could have ended his day, but resulted in a gutsy comeback and three quick second-term goals to spark his side to life? Or bouncing back from a concussion to produce a 13-clearance, 31-disposal effort that led the Dockers to an underdog road win over GWS?

Leadership comes in many forms, and Fyfe’s efforts in befriending brave brain surgery patient Milli Lucas and treating her to a day to remember in the win over Port Adelaide won’t be soon forgotten.

The Dockers have had a tumultuous season, culminating in the exits of coach Ross Lyon and chief executive Steve Rosich little more than a week ago. But Fyfe has been a rock throughout, with his rise to second-favourite in Brownlow betting despite his side winning just nine games testament to his ability to stand tall in testing times.

There’ll continue to be debate about the merits of Fyfe earning the nod over Hurn. But as he earns his third All-Australian cap, Fyfe’s body of work across the past decade deserves to be recognised."

Hurn.
Even his own teammates don’t have him in the top 3 Budgies MVP for 2019.

Debate over Fyfe getting captaincy over Hurn?

That's ***********. Hurn was lucky to be in the side.

Also, can someone tell me what's wrong with this picture?

Lachie has grown and Fyfe has shrunk.
AFL doesn’t seem to rate proof reading very highly.

I thought it at the time, no way is Lachie the ruck rover and Nat the rover, shows lack of football knowledge by someone setting up the awards.

Rover, Ruck Rover seems a bit old school. When have you heard any talk of these positions in the past thirty years when the teams are discussed.
Forward Flank, Half Back Flankers..
Looking at past teams the word was Follower for "ruck", "rover" and "ruck-rover".
