i hope it won't be, but i feel Sumich just has to turn up to get the job. I'm still bummed from when he publically whined about being overlooked for the WCE job whilst a FFC assistant. Showed that his heart isn't really with Freo I feel. In fact, we just got rid of a other-mob supporting CEO, how about we try building the brand that Dale Alcock was talking about and get someone connected strongly to the club (and not stronger to another club) in.

Well according to Perthnow Hale is the tallest coach in VFL / AFL history ...

There’s something important to consider ...

And to think we slag off the quality of sports reporting in this state ...

Give JLo the job. He can actually "walk and chew gum at the same time"according to Buckley. With skills like those I'm sure he can handle any problems that may come his way as our new coach. (also from Perth Now)

Or Ballas to completely confuse them.

The idea has merit, that up on 211's shoulders, and shouting through a cardboard cone, Ballas could coach from the touchline.

I was looking for JLo highlights to show my son who he was and why he should be considered for the Freo coaching role and stumbled across an interview he did while he was at the WC, he mentioned how some injuries are just bad luck and some injuries like soft tissue injuries are more preventable, just hearing him say that made me think he's what we need.

it's between the 25 seconds to 110 seconds

How many senior AFL coaches have been appointed on the back of coaching Under 18 state teams. I think he may be a long shot.

Out of interest, what’s the success rate of players who go on to coach their old clubs - seems very hit and miss. Voss, Hird, Ratten, Leppitsch, Laidley (one of my favourites)....

I’m not sure that the romanticism of returning players is an important factor. Just get the best coach that is available regardless of where he played. If it’s Longmuir that’s fine but not because he played for us.

Not sure Walter but Pagan comes to mind in respect to an underage coach who had considerable success. Sumich, simply hasn't been am underage state coach and his departure from Fremantle had more to do with challenging Lyon, I am led to believe, rather than competency. Let's not forget, before their fallout, Lyon endorsed Sumich as a senior coach in waiting. As for falling out with Lyon, Sumich was not the only one. People sing the praises of Brett Kirk. I understand that he didn't leave Freo simply for a change. Anyhow, it's all conjecture but Sumich has good connections with the up and coming WA raised players. Did he not endorse and implore local clubs to take a punt on Stack? Let's see what happens. Most of all, for all of our sakes, let's hope that whoever coaches Fremantle places an emphasis on skills and more faith in their players playing their natural game, rather than guarding space. Cheers.
