DBTS, we have seen some different approaches to game plans over the years, the problem as I see it however, is that there is an immediate return to the default down the line & stoppage style as soon as the pressure goes on. Hence what Hughes does too often, Hill did on the weekend and plenty of others have done over the years. Miss the target by a few meters, and instead of a stoppage it is OOBOTF, and a kick back into our defenders.
The other glaring problem is the allowing of opponents 5 - 10 meters of space when defending. How many times do we see a Freo player guarding vacant space then, running to an opponent who has just taken the mark. That problem is an easy fix, but Lyon does not coach the fix. He is a "theory" coach, and found out in the practical world of footy. That also is an easy fix.
