DBTS;
Cerra I thought had another good day, his skill execution for a highly skilled player sometimes deserts him in the pressure at this level.

I think you may find the reason for this in other posts on D/L. I also have a theory on Hughes's OOBOTF bloopers, (and B Hill yesterday), given the goto from defence is go long down the line to force a stoppage, I think these guys, like your average U13 player is trying to kick the footy too hard (to please the coach) and slewing it off the side of the boot.

Granted Brisbane have a young list, they also haven’t played in finals since 2009 so you could probably expect that their access to quality youngsters would be better than ours.

We could debate the slightly Gerovich but if I concede to only slightly, I think Brisbane have one of if not the best injury lists in the AFL this year, helping them to have a good year.
This opens up the conversation around our player availability. I think this is the biggest area that needs addressing, and is easier to fix than other areas. I think the club needs to look at its fitness programs, aand adjust the game style.
The other factor could be our playing and training surfaces, this could be harder to fix

RM I have always seen what others have seen particularly around player availability. I have made many posts over quite a number of years along these lines.
I’m not as certain as others as to one change will fix a multitude of problems. I believe there are other mitigating factors besides it being just Lyon’s fault. He Is a pivotal part, and needs to develop as well. Unlike others I have seen him try to change our game style to varying degrees of success.
I hold a different view on the effectiveness of the rebuild.
I wouldn’t sack a coach mid season with 1 million dollar payout and no plan b. I think the proof will be in the pudding next year with a full list available and some critical players developing further and gelling into the team. By this time Rhys Shaw may be available again.
With regards to the Gabba, I have no idea whether this would be hard or not. I haven’t heard any noise to this effect. I mentioned our training facility because this is also a new surface and may have similar to the publicised issues of Optus. This was only one of three things that I mentioned.

DBTS, we have seen some different approaches to game plans over the years, the problem as I see it however, is that there is an immediate return to the default down the line & stoppage style as soon as the pressure goes on. Hence what Hughes does too often, Hill did on the weekend and plenty of others have done over the years. Miss the target by a few meters, and instead of a stoppage it is OOBOTF, and a kick back into our defenders.

The other glaring problem is the allowing of opponents 5 - 10 meters of space when defending. How many times do we see a Freo player guarding vacant space then, running to an opponent who has just taken the mark. That problem is an easy fix, but Lyon does not coach the fix. He is a "theory" coach, and found out in the practical world of footy. That also is an easy fix.
