Yeti, after a look at the stats to confirm my observation of the game, I think Darcy was the influential big man on the ground. Not the fastest, sure, but the stats don't lie.

I also checked the stats and was surprised it appears he was better than I thought. They would also indicate that Lobb spent less time in the ruck than many would’ve thought.
Stats can lie, if you were to look at the stats you could make a case for things are quite a bit better this year, than previous years. I could equally use those same stats to say that they are no better.

Well, Detox, I just cherrypicked Darcy's stats v the other 4 ruckmen out there, and to me he stacked up pretty well. It does not appear that Aliir played as a ruckman if you look at the stats.

Darcy had a big impact no doubt but I would still put Lobb as having the biggest influence for a big man. I'd also be looking at Aliir Aliir. He faded in and out due to illness but had a big impact and was the main reason Sydney had periods of dominance

Yeti, I thought Lobb's influence was as a forward, and Aliir did not , I think, play as a ruckman. McClean(I think it was) was their ruckman, Aliir played more as a ruck-rover. I jumped into this debate because some were slurring Darcy's credentials and performance as a ruckman and based my argument on the respective players ruckwork.

Yeah RM, I thought that Lobb was the most influential big man for his work in the ruck AND as a forward. I had similar thoughts about Aliir Aliir as he was very effective (when not ill) both in the ruck and around the ground.

If you're looking at Darcy's ruckwork in isolation then I would say he was probably the most effective of all the talls in the ruckman's role
