Get Pickett for nothing and put him around Pearce, Wilson, Sonny and co, he'll be fine. Tim Kelly is a must an absolute must, you will have to pay overs but it's the right time to pay overs. And promote Carter cause he's a star and draft Liam Henry.

You'll see thirteen indigenous players in one team! Be even better when we win a flag with them all.

Polly, AFL clubs continue to try and put "beef" on players that don't need it. The reason why Pickett caught the eye of recruiters wasn't because they thought "Man that fella looks like he will be a great footballer when we stack another 10 kilo's on him" (ask Clancee how that scenario plays out), but because they watched him cut opponents to ribbons with his speed and agility. If you are going to waste those talents by trying to change the player, don't bloody recruit him in the first place. Let him go somewhere where he can showcase what he has to the people who pay your wages. The footy supporters.

The great nephew of Maurice, cousin of Cyril - add him to your list and turn him into a meatball. You gotta wonder what some footy clubs are thinking don't you.

Tim English is a gun and will be another Grundy/Gawn.IMO...........Kelly does not ( repeat ) does not want to join the Dockers so a waste of time with that one............as for Hodor : yesterdays ruckman....too slow, not agile, one dimensional and in the words of our illustrious coach : I COACH FOR EFFORT NOT SKILL......trade him to a club who value that pathetic excuse for failure.

Geez!!. Someone please tell me where Hodor has let us down??

Hodor has given his all - as far as I'm concerned- and gone and given well beyond his years and experience.

The biggest problem we've had with Hodor, is that we refuse to play him.

Thats not actually Hodors fault.!

Give the kid a break, and let him have a go, and develop.

We've given enough players a break this year, Cletus.

Half of our top six are walking around in moon boots.

Yep, Cletus, I reckon he is one of those players who will play well whatever grade he plays in, but the better the competition, the better he plays. Like Harley, S Hill and Blakely, wasted running around at Peel.

Tim English has got more upside than Darcy.. He's taller, more mobile and can find the footy.. He could be a bit of a Dean Cox type.. I think we would need to give something more than Darcy to get it done, maybe another pick.. It will be interesting to see what Ed Langdon wants to do..... I wander what his trade value is?

I'm going to dispute a few things there. Darcy is 3cm shorter than English but the same height as Grundy who is supposed to be the best ruckman. The point being, height doesn't mean you're going to win the hit out, especially at boundary throw ins where it's more of a wrestle for the correct position.

When comparing Darcy and English, I reckon Darcy comes out on top stats wise. Both have played 18 games so far but Darcy played 8 of those when he was 18 and 8 more when he was 19 (and one of those he didn't record a stat as he was injured in the first few minutes). English has played 9 of his games this year and turns 22 in a month. As a result, you would think English would be far ahead of Darcy stats wise. You'd be wrong.

Darcy averaged 12.3 possessions in his first year and that has since come down to 10 but I'd wager a fair part of that is due to playing alongside Sandi in his second year (and recording no stats in 1 game) and then Lobb in his two games this season. English has had free rain to take the main ruck mantle at the Dogs with few other ruckmen in the squad and while his season has been promising, it's no where near what Darcy has produced on occasion.

Just look at hitouts where the 3cm shorter Darcy averages 31.6 (again, with a 0 amongst his 18 games) while English sits at a paltry 15.1. That's reasonably pathetic ruckwork so you'd want to be getting the ball a lot more around the ground which as per the last paragraph, also isn't happening. When you take into account the fact Darcy was reasonably unfit in those first 2 years as he tried to lose weight, I think there's a hell of a lot more potential in him to expand on those disposal figures than English who has always been touted as a runner.

So yeah, Darcy measures up quite well and I'll be interested to see how he goes in the second half of the year coming back from a foot injury (that probably hasn't helped his fitness and has him somewhat underdone for movement around the ground).
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

For mine, looking at Biz's analysis of both players (very in-depth and astute, Biz) I would keep Darcy as a ruckman, and get English to play as a big-bodied mid-fielder, which his stats seem to suggest he is, and which our coaching and recruiting staff seem to favour.
