Exactly ....I don't care what Lyon says or how much he talks (a lot) ,he needs to bring results and facts....

Mmm, I take your point Shane, but there is an editorial process that even those two Neanderthals have to follow.

Yeah Suker, you'd think that but experience says otherwise.

I had to explain a couple of fairly simple things to a 'journo' from the Worst. It was very carefully explained and I made a specific point of making definite statements of fact when going through that process.

When the story appeared the next day, everything was completely backwards. The very definite statements that I made, while pointing out how important they were, had been described in an exciting fashion but were 100% opposite to what I said.

They may have been simple things but the 'journo' was even more simple. The exact same thing happened to my boss on another occasion.

Truth doesn't sell. Sex sells. Drama sells. Heck even conspiracy theories sell but not truth.

I've not met Monkey Butler but one truth I'd like to get to - does he have a normal sized hat and a massive head or a normal sized head and a tiny hat?

Yeah Yeti, my wife had a similar experience years ago.
Still reckon a two page spread would have to be ticked off by an editor. This obviously was, so the whole business is a pimple on the arse of a dirty feral pig which doesn't belong in our southern forests.

I heard the editor interviewed two days back saying they were digging deep cause "they believe the boy had form"

When selling clicks nothing beats outrage - you just gotta time it right, the bigger the better.

Whoa, let's go back there. Someone mentioned that the club has a president. That's news to me. Has anyone ever seen or heard from him?

Yep Suker, no argument with that feral pig business but as for that editor?

Look he's probably studied marketing which means two things. His grip on reality is tenuous at best and his grip on the truth is substantially less.

You need to understand that most media outlets (all probably) no longer seek to report the facts. They seek to top the ratings, sell advertising space and make money for the owners and obliquely for themselves. Getting the facts correct is no longer even a desirable goal because it gets in the way of more important goals.

There is not a single media outlet in Australia that you can trust to be factually accurate. Not one.

Of course, the Worst takes that to extremes

Particularly under this new editor, if you want The Worst to print anything positive about your organisation then you need to drop lots of cash on advertising. It recently worked for the Crayfishing lobby group and the Oil and Gas industry's issue re the EPA. If you drop 100k on taking out full page ads then you can count on a week of editorials coincidentally making your case for you. That is The Worst's model of journalism.

I have to agree with you Yeti. In general I read a story in a newspaper and think nothing of it. Except that just about every single time I read a story that I know a lot about, I find it is terrible. And of course it hits you hardest when you see the information you gave to the journo mangled beyond recognition.

And right now they think that Freo is fair game, and will sink the boot in. So we should expect more of the same, at least until we beat the Eagles a couple of times.

I'm pretty sure we could beat the Knobbers a half dozen times and the worst would still be running print on how the Knobbers beat themselves. (Don't Google any of that BTW)
