‘McCarthy also spent time under individual instruction from forwards coach David Hale about timing his leads towards the end of the session.’

No, we have no interest whatsoever in keeping things simple for Cam.

You don’t need a coach, AFL or otherwise, to tell you that if you consistently play behind your opponent you’re not likely to get the footy very often.

I never realised that you should time your leads differently at the beginning and end of the season...

I think they meant timing your leads form the backline. At the start of the season it was from half back and the end of the season it was more like Full back.

Subtle but important I would think.

Flag 2005: our AFLW side have actually scored most of their goals this season by getting behind the defenders. Just saying - and it's been great to watch too.

I love how we have a ex lumbering ruckman coaching Cam on leading patterns. Guess it would be too obvious to get an ex leading forward to do it.

If Cam needs to be told when and where to lead he is surely not a "natural" forward. OR, he has been over coached by many with complex and ever changing instructions, that he is so nervous and unsure of himself, he plays cautiously with a confused mind.
Yeah, could be the latter...hats off to our coaches.

When and where he's allowed to lead.

We had an ex leading forward on the coaching panel. He was not allowed to say anything except policy approved coaching. Guess he would not be much help then.

The good thing about Cam Mac is he injects a bit of crazy into the team. And this team meeds some crazy.

Just wanna say. - not certain hes a great assistant coach...but David Hale was more than a ' lumbering ruckman' WTB..!!
He was a more effective forward than anyone we've had since Pav.....

If Cam can learn anything from him, I'd be grateful.!!

Question is : why has it taken until now to give Cam some sagely 'one on one' tuition...?

It's the Mo isn't Suker, out there at Cockburn, sporting a Mo like that , you look like a clump of rye grass sprouting out of some wild fennel plant
