So, the Weagles were essentially set up to fail? And all along I thought they were given a silver spoon. Poor darlings. Some serious revisionist history going on here:

www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-15/west-coas...es-analysis/10900458

This story should have one of those 'offensive' warnings, so here it is: Don't read this with a full stomach or a slightly upset tummy. May cause indigestion or outright vomiting.

Of all the lies, lilygilding and general misrepresentations, the one that really burns my buns is this:

"...the club's squad was restricted to 17 fewer players than other sides"

It might have been worth pointing out that VFL clubs had to field a reserve side and the Weavils didn't but facts can get in the way of good story.

How many players from the teal cup winning team? Seven. I won’t go on but I am so grateful we have a special neighbour to despise. They don’t care as much as we do, as long as they can squeal and shriek many times a season.
A team from nowhere, fans from everywhere, an elitist expectation, a general stupidity amongst fans (he ducked)...
Thank you yellow mongrels, you give me purpose.

I wonder what their take would be on the set up of th Dockers. Didn't Matt Price write something on that subject?

It mentions this in the latest Docker mag, how we got 7 uncontracted players from clubs, and those clubs got picks 1 to 7 in the draft in return.

Imagine if today you could say "Well Shane Kersten's out of contract, so he can bugger off back to Geebung and we'll have pick 3 in the next draft please."

Any article that begins by referring to the “West Australian capital” isn’t worth reading. Where is that? Anywhere near the capital of Southern Australia or North Territory? Or is it the head office of the local newspaper.
