I forced myself to watch the last half again and we totally dominated the third quarter and a fair bit of the fourth. One of the things (amongst a million) that stood out is how many of our best midfielders have got the yips in the fifty arc and try to avoid taking shots at goal and look for the pass off. I have noticed it with Fyfe this year in particular, but Blakely and B.Hill are two others. Whereas someone like Mundy loves a chance at a goal as does Tucker. It is how it needs to be- midfielders need to kick goals which is why Walters has been so successful as a mid.
In general, we played better than I thought we did but west coast were far superior with their foot skills and caught us out the back a number of times because we would turn it over going forward. The other thing I wanted to see was Steven Hill one out with Jetta at the top of the goal square with three minutes to go in the third. He clearly had his jumper pulled and I could tell this from the three tier stand.
We definitely have issues that seem to never get solved but I think there is the makings of a decent team there if we can find a full forward/centre half forward (sigh). We need some dominant talls. Also, west coast are finished. They have gone in hard for the flag this year with the oldest team in the league and it isn't going to happen.
