You can cherry-pick the stats to back any argument you like, within any time-frame you like.

Last week, we were the only side in the league to field an unchanged lineup for R4 - and we may well do that again for this round. Props to the medicos and coaching staff!

I'm glad Mitch Clark didn't join us with his dodgy foot. Imagine how bad that would have made our medicos look.

...or Dean Cox and his uncontrollable flapping wings, er i mean arms.

I actually miss that guy standing in the middle of the field waving his arms madly in the air trying to score a free kick...who doesn't love a good clown show :-)

Inverted Survivorship Bias. [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias]

You only count the guys with persistent long term injuries and ignore anyone who gets back on the paddock. To make a case that our medical staff are incompetent you would need to compare injury rate and recovery time for matched injuries at different clubs. If this was actually done my guess would be: the results are inside the error bars, ie, nada.

Whatever, you don't not notice an infection in a healing broken leg until 10 months later when you're looking at it every day that he comes to the club for rehab or training. You just don't.

Hats off to clubs like Sydney and Geelong who stuck with Johnson and Menzel after even more knee recons than Mora.

Also, this from today's Herald Sun
"(Zac) Clarke remains on the Dockers’ long-term injury list.
His two most recent operations are linked to damage sustained around a screw in his injured kneecap and have occurred each time he has attempted to step up training loads."

Either Bunnings has been selling us a dodgy lot of screws (maybe check for rust?) or we should consider upgrading to galvanised.

Has the cub released a statement on the Pearce setback. Other than the west online I have not seen anything official from the club?

Maybe the surgeons that done the surgery are Slime supporters and don't want any Freo players back anytime soon?

On a broader note, how do you reckon this building perception of botchy injury management affects the mindset when dealing with Fremantle at the trade table?

As if the mood wasn't giggly enough already.

Jimb2's point is a good one. The question isn't whether we have injuries, or even recurring injuries. The question is whether we have significantly more of those things than other clubs. I don't know if we do. We're not exactly an outlier on the injury list.

I feel for all the blokes that are kept out of the game because of injury. It's their livelihood and they don't get the time added onto their careers. Some blokes are just more durable (it seems), but the devil-may-care attitude of others (like Ballantyne) are bloody magnificent with the way they approach the game. Live and learn (I guess), like everyone.

Either way, it's stupid to think club medical/conditioning people are negligent (or 'effing up) - it's their profession and their livelihood as well. Can we get better ones? Not sure, but I reckon everyone is doing the best that they can.

It's in their interest, it's in our interest - I hope all the guys bunged-up at the moment come back to good health as soon as they can.
