Very little mention of Mick B. Any updates?

Trade radio suggests if a deal does happen for him it will happen last minute cos he's not a priority for any club it seems. Looks like there still a chance he stays providing we a willing to give him a one-year deal and still a chance he doesn't get a deal at all and probably enters the preseason draft.

I can't help feeling that we already have offered him a 1 year deal, but that he is holding out for something better.

Give him two years, he's a good bloke.

Reminds me of when Paul Hasleby ended his career, manager Connors and Hasleby demanded 2 year deal, club offered 1 and that was the end for Haselby. Sad if we're seeing a repeat.

Hasleby took the one year contract.

I stand corrected Shane, but there are similarities. Hase was also challenged speedwise despite being a ball magnet and elite ball user but still forced out of the game prematurely.

I think a combination of injuries and Colinytus Sylviarosis (a ceaseless and uncontrollable craving for meat pies) is what ended The Haze's career. Barlow definitely wants to play for another two or three years and that's the deal he will be chasing.

If there's been no interest from other clubs is Freos lack of offering him anything at this stage validated?

Having just signed the petition to keep Barlow, I feel like a bit of a hypocrite but what about trading him for Hamling?

Both players will get minimum 2 year deals.

If WB say no deal, then give Mick a one year deal and keep him at Freo.

I thought The west 'backpage' ended poor Hase's career

As raised by Barlow's agent, I reckon there was a mature conversation along the lines of:

Barlow's agent: Mick wants a two year deal on good money.
Bond: Mick's a fine player, and a great bloke, but the coach has indicated there's no guarantee that he'll get a regular game, so I'm only prepared to offer a one year deal, on average money.
Barlow's agent: Mick would love to stay, but I think Mick can do better than that.
Bond: We would love Mick to stay, but you might be right about him getting a better contract. You're welcome to look for other offers, and we'll do our best to find a trade if there's interest.
Barlow's agent: Ok, let's stay in touch. Good meeting.
Bond: Good meeting. Want to go and get salted caramel mocha light frappuccinos?
Barlow's agent. Ummm, maybe next time.
Bond: People always say that, but the never mean it.
[Awkward Silence, Agent slinks out].

Never end a meeting with a Frappacinno invitation.

I was giving Bond some credit. There's a chance that's how he starts his meetings.
