In May, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the commissioners would "dread" making the decision about Watson's medal.

"I think the people charged with the responsibility of making that decision will not have made a more difficult decision - not just in their time in football, but almost in their lives," McLachlan told Fox Footy.

"I don't want to over-dramatise it, but that will be as hard a decision as anyone on the Commission has had to make, I'm sure of it."

It's actually a very easy decision. He played while using a performance enhancing substance so he's disqualified from winning the Brownlow medal.

The appeal to the Swiss courts was never about overturning the CAS decision. The grounds used had been previously decided in the jurisdiction. It was a snow job as they say.

The real action starts just about now.

Watch for the campaign to ramp up - overseas courts, not suited to a team sport, need to move away from WADA...oh and the players need to be compensated for the gross unfairness. Next move will be a challenge within the Australian legal system.

Watson should have been stripped of the Brownlow a long time ago. The Commission has failed the integrity test all over again as has the AFL.

And yet as much as we mock the no-neckers in the NRL, look at the difference between the approach taken by the Cronulla Sharks and the Peptides.

The Cronulla players (eventually) accepted a ban from their governing body (NRL) which WADA accepted in 2014. They also 'won' the wooden spoon that year as 9 players sat out their ban and none of the suspended players were eligible to win competition awards.

But having (finally) accepted the umpire's decision, they have since turned things around such that they won their maiden premiership this year.

That Jobe will now lose his Brownlow from 4 years ago just goes to show how the bloody minded, egomaniacs in the black and red corner have stuffed their club up.

It's the gift that just keeps on giving...
