The City of Fremantle is pleased to announce the induction of Fremantle Dockers’ superstar Matthew Pavlich into the Fremantle Sporting Hall of Fame.

Before you ask. Of course it's a thing.

Will they put his statue next to Bon Scott's?

Pav getting a sit on Bon's shoulders.

With John Curtin staying down for the crumbs.

I'll just throw this idea out as a suggestion. No pressure, City of Fremantle.

That coloured shipping crate one is a ripper - just imagine it on Stirling Hwy at the south end of the North Freo bridge.

A while back, Mile High Stadium in Denver had a rearing white stallion at the northern end - the tip of his nose was exactly 1 mile above sea level. When the Broncos won they would leave the lights on the stallion on all night long. No matter where you were in Denver you could see this big white horse and know that the football team won. They redeveloped the stadium now (I think).

They did the same thing with Candlestick Park in San Francisco - on the edge of the bay there, they would leave the full stadium lights on all night long after the '49ers won, after the SF Giants won. It was great, all you had to do was glance over to see if the local team won.

I reckon Shane's Pav on the shipping crate thing is a real goer - Smiley, have a word with your mate Brad and get it up before council. They've got heaps of cash now - they stopped the fireworks (thankfully) and they're no cutting anymore big trees down. Heaps of cash lying around - light Pav up at night when (oops - I should've said 'if') we win.

Good idea Polly, if Pav lifted his head, his nose would be approximately a mile above sea level, and all of Perth would be able to see the light on the end of his nose. (and 75% of the state. Just imagine how it would keep those slime supporters awake at night.

There just has to be a statue of him outside his Pavloval.

I'm far too cynical to give money to a newspaper to build a statue that no one has provided a place for.

Next thing you know they'll be wanting people to pay them to put in a classified ad wishing Pavlich all the best.

I don't care who pays for it. My problem is getting some sculptor to do the job. Artists are bloody flogs, you get some guy to do a simple job and they turn it into some gut-wrenching emotionally cathartic expression of their inner self (or something). Even the best sculptor who ever lived came up with this 'family portrait':

Sure, great sculpture but it looks like something left in a tissue after blowing your nose. No one wants a glob of stuff stuck in a park - what we need is a 20m statue of Pav to light up at night.
