TOPIC: Is Crowls on the Block?

Has Freo's game style changing mean than RC will be gawn?

I remember seeing him playing in the forward line, he is a good mark and shot at goals and he kicked a bag of goals a couple of times when he played as a forward. Could that be an option instead of sacrificing Fyfe to the forward line?

Freo's game style, along with everyone else's is going to change again now there's no sub and 90 interchanges. Hearing plenty of people saying taggers might make a bit of a comeback with the extra player on the bench, teams can afford one guy to totally sacrifice going after the ball and just worry about the man. If that’s the case Creepy may well be of use to us with the bonus of him going forward and kicking goals pretty regularly. If the club stays away with the current style I reckon the only way he’ll play an AFL game next year is with another club. It’s a shame if that’s how it works out. I always liked what he did till he got himself in trouble.

They did something on one of the football shows recently - Talking Footy or Footy Classified, I can't remember which. But they put up a graphic showing Sam Mitchell's possessions in the GFs he's been in. 30+ possessions for the GFs, except for the 2013 Freo GF, the team that got closest to the Hawks in the past three GFs. Crowley held Mitchell to about 20 possessions with the implication being that to have a decent shot at beating the Hawks that nullifying Mitchell's influence was a decent strategy.

Personally, I think there's room for a tagger in this game. Crowley's spent a bruise-free year and I think still has plenty to offer.

NM showed there was still plenty of room for a tagger with Jacobs in the finals. Had some big shut down roles.

Fyfe mentioned in his brownlow speech a special thanks to the guys like suban and mzungu who would often try to put in a bit of a block and take care of his opponent.. With crowley aging you would think that one of these guys + de boer will need to provide some tagging options

Playing Crowley as a tagger doesn't mean you sacrifice 1 player going for the ball. After 5 minutes of letting his opponent know what he is in for today, Crowls gets enough of the ball himself, and he generally uses it pretty well, especially around goals. He has more to offer, keep him on the list.

Also you don't have to sacrifice the 3 attacking midfielder set up we had at centre clearances. You can have the 3 attackers and then just tag Mitchell after the ball up. So Creepy just goes to him around the ground. We win most of our clearances. Mitchell is dangerous everywhere but mostly around the ground where they feed it out and back to him out of scrummages.

this is not an all or nothing situation imo
