TOPIC: Pass mark for season?

Jon454 Pass mark for season? 8 years 5 months ago #15

Jon454
Pass for me .... enjoyed the season watching the boys win 17 games and am proud of their efforts.

So ... we didn't make the GF , but did a hell of a lot better than most teams in the comp.

Looking forward to seeing how they back it up next year.

The reduced rotations aint gonna change anyones game plan.

Freo look to have better quality inside 50 entries rather than just pumping it in there and turning over for the opposition to rebound.

WC dominant scoring this year was in no small part due to their draw being in the top two softest.

RoTV, as much as I would also like to find excuses as to why the mob up the road are in Melbourne and we're not, according to my calculations they played 10 games against other sides in this year's final top eight in the H&A season - excatly the same number as us.

After our inglorious exit from the finals in 2014, I had no idea what to expect. Most so called experts had us on the slide in 2015.

Had anyone told me before the year started that we would finish the H&A season clearly on top of the ladder and host a prelim I would have given the season a big tick.

But right now I am feeling gutted. The fact the we are not in the GF is something I am really struggling to come to terms with. Losing 4 out of the last 5 finals is a big concern.

I feel sick about what could happen today. I can't begin to imagine how I will feel if the unthinkable happens.

ICONDOCKER Pass mark for season? 8 years 5 months ago #20

ICONDOCKER
The number of games we played in wet and slippery conditions mid year may have contributed to the loss of confidence in kicking the ball and over reliance on the handball. Johno was also missing during this period of time, Ibbotson did well but does not have the same panache in moving the ball out of D50.

With all due respect Freo4eva, that is a pretty limited analysis. What about the number of bottom 4 sides, where played and when? Here’s a quick round by round analysis of WC’s year:

Western Bulldogs - 10pt Loss, which turned out to be more meritorious than originally thought.
Carlton - Say no more
Fremantle - Got flogged
Brisbane Lions - Say no more
Greater Western Sydney - GWS were going ok, but never travel that well over here
Port Adelaide - Got Port following an intense Showdown and Port got done by Brisbane the following week.
Gold Coast - Say no more
St Kilda - Say no more
Geelong - Geelong were in a funk at this stage after losing a prime mover Mitch Duncan a week or two before.
North Melbourne - Beaten in Tassie
Essendon - Say no more
Richmond - Got Richmond off a bye and it showed with an error-riddled game from the Tigers.
Melbourne - Say no more (Melbourne 's home game in NT!)
Adelaide - Got the Crows effectively off a bye and especially vulnerable the first week after losing Phil
Collingwood - Magpies were well and truly sliding at this stage.
Sydney - Sydney were also in a big funk at this stage.
Gold Coast - Should of won this easily, drawn game.
Hawthorn - Beaten by the Hawks.
Fremantle - Freo had only limited incentive to win, but jumped us well and truly.
Western Bulldogs - Young team tiring and not that great a travelling record over here
Adelaide - Flogged by the Crows.
St Kilda - Say no more.
