Everyone's bagging Ross Lyon but I reckon the issue is our forward line - no development- no plan - I think Sumich Should be help responsible. He leaves the Eagles and suddenly the Eagles goal kicking woes of old have become our own - this time last year we were complaining of not enough goals and NOTHING has changed. So frustrated. The experts were right. If you can't kick goals you can't win flags. So gutted for the boys who gave it all last night.....

You know, there is a reason that no other club will look at Sumich as a coach.

Years of failure at the slime followed up by years of failure as our forward coach. Our forward line is the most disfunctional its ever been. As far as I'm concerned, Bond can take Sumich with him when he leaves and we can start looking for a couple of competent somebodies to replace them

A game plan which refuses to move the ball quickly combined with:

33 yr old superstar who struggles to do what he did 5 years ago and is double teamed all day

A second round rookie draft selection

A bloke who is high 180s and gets tasked with the second marking forward role

And two of the best smalls in the game

No wonder we struggle.

Even Ross in his press conference last night said or KPPs particularly forwards don't stack up with other top 4 teams

He should have been told to leave when he went for Adam Simpsons Position! He obviously didn't want commit to the Club. He was not consistent when he played so I wouldn't expect much from him now!
Put Sumich out to Pasture where he came from and remind the lads that they should not be looking at how wide the gap is between the big sticks, your looking at a spot dead center beyond them and kicking to that!
Also remind them that a hand pass to someone standing flat footed next to you isn't generally the best option!

I cannot stess enough that we absolutely need to offload this bloke. A man on the record who declares his love for the Eagles, but in the next breath has to look our players in the eyes and say "hey team we'll win this thing together"! Would you play for him!?

Maybe not the whole problem but a large contributing factor.

No one will be more gutted today than Ross and our boys. They know what's required, they know we need to change but it has to start with trust and respect of the coaching staff.

Do us a favour Summa and naff off.

Not that I'm trying to stir the pot but Sumich wasn't in charge of the forward line during the premiership years at west coast. He coached the midfield and did quite a good job too. They got to two grand finals and won one. Besides which don't all the coaches have to follow the philosophy of the senior coach and the club. I don't rate him personally but definitely the blame lies equally across the board with recruitment, players and coaching. Who knows what the answer is. The first half of the year we were on fire and the last half we sucked. That's it in a nutshell....what changed?

Sumich signed for Freo; he said he was always a (South) freo boy at heart, how he was just returning home, etc etc.
Eagles coaching job comes up; Sumich publicly declares his interest.
Simpson gets appointed; Sumich publicly declares how disappointed he is to not have the job, an eagles man like him should get more of a look in etc etc...

I'm sorry, but what other club in the world would continue the employ of a bloke who not only isn't making that great a difference, but who has also publicly declared he'd rather be at their main rivals?

All we can hope is that Suma follows Worsfold to the Drug Cheats and stuffs up their forwards instead of ours.

MM18, Blind Freddy could have coached that midfield when he was at the Eagle's. The problem is as soon as he doesn't have the absolute best players in the comp (think Cousins, Judd, Kerr et al) to work with and instead needs to actually develop a strategy that maximises the talent on hand - he comes up short.

It's probably the reason why he has failed to land the top job despite multiple attempts - he's just not that good a strategist.
