I hope there are at least two more games for Pav to enjoy playing this year. I’ve loved watching him over the course of his outstanding career. The highlights are numerous; pack bursting marks, massive goals and general brilliance. From standing up to Gardiner in the 2000 Derby to his first quarter in the 2012 elimination final against Geelong, he’s been a champ. His spoil on two Cats with five and a half minutes to go in the qualifying final in 2013 is one of my all time favourite footy moments. Hoping he goes extra well tonight. Heave Ho!

I have also been super impressed that over the journey he has never sooked on the field. We used to kick them short, high, wide, loopy so defenders would crunch him and he never publicly went the sookie la la.

Compare with Richo, Jack R or even Hogan!

Great post fourth ump. In all the excitement it's easy to forget it could be the great mans last game. Personally I hope he plays on, I think he still had plenty to offer in a closer to goal role and in mentoring our next chf and next captain. But no matter what happens, what a player, what an absolute champion and ornament to the club and the game.

No player in the competition is more deserving of a premiership than Matthew, and to think that he may not have the opportunity to add the achievement to his already lengthy list of accolades is heart breaking. His character speaks for itself. He's a courageous and Honorable player who plays in the true spirit of the game, and I feel privileged to have watched him take the field over the last decade.
