Great player who stood up for his beliefs. I'm full of respect for the way he refused to be silenced. Shame on those who claim to support minority groups until they speak too loudly.

A voice of reason in a land full of knuckleheads and rednecks.
A brilliant footballer, a terrific writer and a sane voice who speaks not on behalf of indigenous Australians but all of us, although most of us are too dim to realise it.
One of the greatest footballers I've seen.
Thanks, Adam, Im glad we don't have to play against you any more because you were too bloody good.
Having said that, I am glad the Mike's and Mr Hill have had the privilege of playing against you.
Enjoy politics.

We have a Tall Poppy Syndrome culture in Australia. ... I'm guilty of it.

In recent years, I thought I understood why people booed him, but then out of long overdue respect, we realised that he felt the booing was possibly racially motivated or prejudice, so it had to stop.

Excluding my offspring, Goodes has achieved more in his life than I probably ever will ... it's easy to look for faults in such a person to make ourselves feel better. But any faults I thought I saw are minute in the bigger picture of the goals Goodes has kicked on and off the field. He has stood tall and proud, inspired many and educated even more.

He has given so much to AFL and our country and we are richer for it.
Good onya Adam Goodes, you're a bloody Champ.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Congrats on all your 4 x AA and your two Brownlows. We respect you and wish you well in retirement. The only thing we will not miss is your brilliance against us.
Not all of us booed, in fact most of us didn't. You know that.

Enjoy your retirement Adam, it lasts a long time, but then so did your playing days. I hope it was not just the treatment from some footy goers (cant bring myself to call them supporters) that brought on your decision to hang up the boots. Retire knowing there is a next generation of indigenous stars shining their light on our great game, all over Australia, from the lush green grass of the MCG to the red dirt, and dry grass grounds in the tiny bush towns.

He's not doing a grand final lap. Will be away in Europe. I suspect he is "over" footy.

Superb for much of his career, what an effort to win 2 Brownlow's. Struggled as a footballer over his last couple of seasons. Provoked public debate and will be remembered for more than his football. Not bad.

The AFL should take the opportunity to nationalise the award and rename the Brownlow after him.
