I reckon Hughes has taken Sutcliffe's position on that performance. Used his body well and constantly held his feet, was fantastic in the air playing as a third tall often and read the play very well. Best of all his disposal was first class. He was the biggest surprise for mine.
Weller did some good things and found plenty of it, good disposal and decision making under pressure.
Grey did some good things with good strong use of his body. Probably not quick enough to play on the small forwards just like most of our smaller defenders but worked hard and found plenty of it on the rebound. His disposal isn't great but tried to take safe options to those who could use it better like Duff.
Langdon continued on with some hard running and clean ball use but didn't get much opportunity up forward.
Blakely didn't get the middle time he needed instead suffering the Barlow curse, thrown onto a half forward flank where he doesn't have the attributes to succeed and his strengths are nullified. Had clean hands and ball use when he did get in the middle and in and under.
Smith looked very shaky early, especially 1v1. His decision making looked suspect but he worked his way into the game and gained confidence as it went on. Second half was much better and when you consider how often Port were pumping it in he did show a bit.
Ballard looked good in the last with solid body work and clean ball use in gaining and disposing of the footy. Would've liked to have seen him start the game.
Duffy looked lost and always under pressure which was disappointing. Not sure if he's carrying injuries but he was slow to move and react which made life tough for himself.
