Duges, you are the mannish, mannish man (unless, of course…)

I remember doing a little work on the Shane Warne wiki entry some years back to point out that, while he was pretty good, he wasn't a patch on Bill O'Reilly and Clarrie Grimmett. I also, for personal reasons, bemoaned the fact that he had scored more runs than any Australian without a century, eclipsing the mark set by the great Slasher Mackay.

There's some irony in that I won't go into right now.

I think there are somne vestigal traces of my handiwork still on the SW entry, though most of it has been lost over time.

But Duges, I hope your contribution to truth and justice remains forever!

If it didn't involved a Freo player, I wouldn't give a toss but I can already see the media hype if Fyfe does actually win it. I hope for Fyfe's sake he doesn't win it, because I feel that it'll be remembered for all the wrong reasons, similar to Priddis winning it in 2014.

Does Tim Lane get paid by the word? with extras for writing rubbish? seriously this bloke is a knob.

As flawed as the Brownlow system is, it used to be easier to pick the best and fairest, because the best didn't have to worry about getting pinged for actual contact in a contact sport. If the AFL really want to avoid embarrassment then don't let a bloke who never initiates any contact win it, like last year.

Lane's assumption that Fyfe would never have won last year due to a second suspension, after already being dodgily ruled out, is the sort of dumb logic you can expect from this sort of article.

Drubbing, as undeserving as he may be of last year's Brownlow, it's a bit rich to say that a bloke who avoids contact is actually leading the whole competition in tackles this season. That logic doesn't quite equate.

Football is not fair. Why are we concerning ourselves with fairness. And what is fairness on a football field anyway.

Yes Tim Lame, Fyfe must be one of the dirtiest players in the league for the following MRP/Tribunal charges;
2013 - kicking - pushing off an opponent with his legs while on the ground on his back. No injury caused.
2014 - rough conduct - an accidental head clash caused. Fyfe and opponent both received cuts to the head.
2014 - striking - a round right arm hit to the body of Lewis which then went high. Lewis stages and goes to ground.
2015 - tripping - an instinctive leg thrown out to stop an opponent, same as what Mitch Duncan did to Fyfe later in the season, same as the likes of Nic Nat, A.Swallow, Ebert, and many others in 2015.
2015 - rough conduct - front on, extended straight arm (no swinging motion) contact to Duryea. The soft part of Fyfe's inside of forearm makes the contact. Fyfe also softens the impact with his right arm to the chest of Duryea. Again Duryea made it look worse, no blood nose, no injury.
And then the incident in question, slight contact to the head and shoulder and Jacobs (almost a second after contact)decides to throw the head back and stage to make it look worse. No injury caused.

Notice how Lame does not talk about the details of the latest Jacobs incident and why he thinks Fyfe should have been found guilty, he just alludes that he should have and talks of how dirty and lucky Fyfe has been.
If he wants to talk about very, very, very, lucky ... then maybe he should have wrote an article about Luke Hodge and how he will still be able to play Finals week 1.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Sort of my point shane. Votes are going to the good players that least raise the ire of the umps with silly play, or aren't viewed by them as serial villains. How else is Mitchell still in the running? Fyfe plays hard but fair, but has to watch for the brain fades.

Time Lane misses the point that Fyfe whacked a bloke in the scon well after he was ineligible last year. Not a good look, but arguably might not have happened if he was still in the race.

Just the type of article that encourages the AwFL and tribunal to treat Freo with bias, and lets thugs like Mitchell and Hodge get away with whatever they like. If Lane wanted to show the problems with the tribunal, Mitchells kneeing and Hodges' late dangerous cheap snipes should have rated a mention, and to say Fyfe is a dirty player, is vindictive journalism at its worst.

Yeah Drubbing, and the bloke he whacked in the scone was part of a team that prides itself on "unsociable football" (which is another name for cheap shots, behind the play sniping and gutless attacks on players not reasonably expecting to be hit). The players from this team don't seem to come under the same scrutiny as anyone else in the comp. Do some investigative power journalistic articles on that subject Mr "Victoria-centric" Lane.
