WtB - Ballas with his record ain't getting anything down - one added (bad record) before one is taken away (early guilty plea)
RR - if you wanna do that here's a tip not 1 rough conduct this yr has been graded intentional, Ballas included. Intentional only seems to apply to striking charges.
RM - whilstle went Hodge was in the goal square 2-3 steps after having tangled with Monfries and lets be honest the big difference between the 2 is Wingard had the ball, in the Silvani incident the ball was at least 80m away.

C'mon DL's we're better than the rabble of fans over at Eagleland so lets call it as it is not how we perceive it thru purple glasses.

Oh and I'm claiming 100% picked 2 wks for Hodge & nada for our boy.

Don't blame the tribunal for giving Silvani 4 wks blame his counsel for pleading guilty to a charge he later said in his own words he didn't intend to do.
There have been 2 other striking charges at the tribunal this yr facing the same charge and both of those got 3 wks that being Hodge & Yarran Striking Intentional High & High yet that muppet Tweedie used an example from 2014 under a different Tribunal system i.e the Vickery case as his example that was Severe impact and Vickery copped 4 wks also, go figure.

Stop being crazy. Hodge got exactly what the rules said Hodge should get.

Perhaps, in a more perfect world, Wingard would have received a severe head trauma and they could have given Hodge longer but you'll just have to come to terms with the fact that his head was only moderately injured.

The AFL will always be lenient on those entertainers who bring the punters through the gate because the AFL is a for profit big business. Life wasn't meant to be fair, and often isn't.

I don't accept that view.
It is true that those high profile players get much more media attention and every incident is scrutinised within an inch of its life. Much more so than some recently elevated rookie. That's life and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't.
Ballas for instance is a great one for the media. A protagonist, serial pest and serial offender. You know at some point you are going to get something.
It's not a pre determined bias on behalf of the AFL, umpires or the MRP but perhaps a manifestation of the media interest in AFL personalities and the higher profile players and a consequence of the interest that the AFL supporters have in them.

So footy is now Sports Entertainment? Mitchell and Hodge should take to the field with folding metal chairs. Give them a platform to launch a dropped elbow from.

I think that was what I was trying to say grub. My sense of it is that you can gauge the outcome based on the media coverage and they seem to be more understanding of their favourites.

Except I don't think they are favourites. They are either very good players or personalities of the game. For that reason the AFL watching public are more interested in what they are doing than the vanilla run of the mill foot soldiers.
Of course the media is going to cater for that and as a consequence any of their actions are highlighted.
Hodge is a case in point - great player and important to a team in premiership contention and has a media profile.
If that had been say Orazio Fantasia for instance the incident would have been shown a few times, he would have been labelled a thug, copped his three weeks and away we go.
You can argue that a high media profile buys you some understanding and that might be right but you could also argue the other way.
Anyhow I don't buy into this conspiracy thing - whether it's individual, team or state based.
