The 3 panellists on the Channel 7 Game Day show think Hodge will get off!! Leigh Matthews even said that you need to take the goal post out of the equation when considering this!

I don't think Leigh understands the rules if he thinks the goal post needs to be in the equation.

I've raised this point previously, however, it is relevant to this post. Hodge will have an ex team mate (Sewell) on the panel judging him. One third of the panel! That is clearly a conflict of interest and he should absent himself every time a Hawk's player is up on a charge. It's like having a workmate on the jury in a court case. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Reckon you are cairivoyant WTB. The MRP is a joke, if hodge's hit is only worth 2 weeks compared to Silvagni's 4, even worse when you take into account that hodge has a previous bad record. How can they say this suspension is bad news for hodge? He and hawthorn will be elated with their mate Sewell and his ability to talk his co panel members around to the hodgeyy is a good bloke view.

If McGlachlan and the AwFL do not appeal this result then they stand open to being accused of bias and corruption of the highest order. The rules state that the potential for serious injury SHOULD be taken into account when deciding Guilt and or penalty for any reportable incident. This has clearly NOT happened in this case. The AwFL are obviously hoping everyone will focus on the Fyfe decision, and their pi55weak cave-in to Alister Nicholson and his cronies at the hawks and in the media would go unnoticed.

Unbelievable, this deliberate act had the potential to paralyse possibly even kill the player being infringed and Hodge gets two weeks. Forget that Wyngard got up after a while and played on, we are talking milliseconds and centimetres from a horrific injury. You could see the look of intent on Hodges face, it was to inflict maximum damage and sheer dumb luck saved Wyngard. In the words of my learned friends down the road BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hypothetically the following may or may not have happened once upon a time in a galaxy far far away:
Ring ring "Yeah mate"
Shady character one "Look mate they have you on the video"
Shady Character two " Really? S#!t what's the plan"
Shady character one " Don't worry mate its all sweet we will give you two weeks off so you can get yourself right for the finals. You are only playing two crab sides so no biggee right?"
Shady character two " Sweet"
Shady character one " No worries mate, remember look remorseful and a little confused as to why this is happening to you, play up to the cameras"
Shady Character two " Cheers mate"
Shady character one "No probs were laughing"

Sadly, Rags, the AFL can't appeal the leniency of a decision, only its severity. It's designed so Gilly and Marky can bleat about how disappointed they are, and Hodgey and Sewelly can laugh their way to the finals.

I really thought they wouldn't give him two weeks. It's just so transparently corrupt. I was sure they'd either find some incredible way of letting him off, or clenched their teeth and given him three. But no.

If that had been Fyfe it would have been 6 weeks and goodnight Irene. The MRP are UBFnlievable.

Which part of the ruling do you disagree with? You couldn't do him for deliberate on that.

www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-24/mrp-full-statement-round-21

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Port Adelaide Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

Bloody conspiracy nuts.

It's a subjective thing but the fact that the video appears to show Hodge directly looking at Wingard's head, then bracing his arm against his body to hip and shoulder Wingard, and then actually connecting his hip to his head gives me some confidence it could be seen as deliberate rather than careless. i.e running toward goals and accidentally colliding. Of course, it could be argued otherwise to a blind man.

Conspiracy nuts is right. Half of you had Fyfe out for weeks and out of Brownlow contention and Hodge getting off.
Fyfe rightly cleared and Hodge rightly charged.
The MRP got these right in my view. 3 weeks seems about right for Hodge.
