Fremantle forward Hayden Ballantyne will miss the rest of the home and away season after rupturing his pectoralis major tendon in Saturday’s 42-point win over Carlton at Domain Stadium.

He will undergo surgery this week after scans confirmed the severity of the injury.

I think Rudyard Kipling put it best in his 1899 short story Those Troublesome Tigers when he wrote

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

That sucks. He is such a barometer for us.

Hope he makes it back for finals.

In the interim play Crozier as a fwd every week. Kid is a sharp shooter. He is out of contract at year end and I'd hate to lose him home to Victoria.

He looked pretty down on Saturday night. Hopefully he can get back out there sooner rather than later.

I imagine he'll be working hard on his resume when he gets back so that "torn tit string" becomes quite hidden in amongst the other more pleasurable notes.

Now we get to see how silly it is to come out with comments like "our best 22 can win a premiership". Top teams need depth to ensure that their next 5-10 players are up for the finals. There's a big gap between Ballas and Crozier but this is his (or someone else's) chance to step up.

I don't think Crozier is the obvious replacement for Ballas. He's definitely not a crumbing forward and often at Peel plays as a wingman/half forward/on baller.
He seems to get pigeonholed as the guy who takes either Sonny or Ballas places when they're injured when he's a completely different type.

Terrible news. Hopefully his recovery will have him primed for the finals.

This puts a dent in our premiership hopes, but realistically, that’s only if you expected Ballas to lift his game in the latter part of the season.

I'm not qualified to step on Fre-Doh's turf, but statistically, in the time Crozier was on the park this season he gave us the exact same output as Ballas (including for tackles, which I found surprising). I think if Crozier settles in and is given more game time, his output will increase. We lose the Ballas spark, but Crozier can hit the scoreboard, and I think his marking could be useful. To the extent that we want a more defensive forward, I think MdB can pitch in at times, although we obviously lose a little bit of scoring when that happens (well, at least direct scoring).

Still, it’s disappointing, but I'm a little more bullish on Crozier than most. I think it's a realy opportunity for him.

Maybe Weller kinda small for small could work and he's tackler but not many goals to his name at Peel and that would give us a lot of light players without a few other changes @ the G. I'd be inclined to not use him this week in a crunch game though I reckon another newbie could work - like Blakely. And bring back Clancee.
