Walter the baker What I learnt: Round 16 8 years 9 months ago #1

Walter the baker
-I think we are a better balanced team with John Griffin in the lineup
-Ruck tap statistics are the most useless numbers in the game
-Commentators are in competition with each other to see who can deliver the most hyperbole. Seriously every second player is a superstar.
-Sonson is a superstar.
-Roly must think that sitting in a different seat will help to improve our form ... he might be on to
something.
-We should extend Moose Pearce's contract before he becomes an AA contender, which won't be long (and shirley he is eligible for a Rising Star nomination)
- I've been saying it for weeks, but we need a new boot studder. I'm sick of players slipping over, even before it rained tonight.

Putting a hard tag on the probable Brownlow medalist sounds like a good idea, but there's a reason that tag usually goes to Hill.

I learnt you can have a 2 mil per year forward line and still not kick any goals.
Tabs is good when he runs into a pack
A Pearce is getting better every game and is now gaining the confidence of his teammates.
Freo don't deserve to be on top of the ladder, Hawthorn, west coast, Sydney, norf, bullies, Tigers, port and Geelong are far more worthy.
I have have been to more wet games this year than I have for the past 10 years combined and I am sick of getting a wet arse.

i) I'm not sure what season muzza has been watching, but when you are 13-2 and a game clear on top, you must have done something right at some point in the season
ii) As ordinary journalism as footy classified is, the stats of where we sit prior to johnson's injury and during his injury are pretty damning, get him back and see the improvement.
III) I dont know about you, but I think a guy who can jump over someone almost twice his size is more impressive than a guy who jumps over 3 guys who even though at 2m tall, are still shorter than him. MOTY contender son son!
iv)Ross's words in the press conference "It's like Ryan Crowley. He used to go to tag, but he used to come off black and blue. So if you're going to play on Nathan you should come off black and blue." not sure it happened enough, but looking forward to seeing it in action. New role for de boer perhaps
v) Tonights first quarter was a 6 goal effort with an open forward line, since then it was almost as if carlton played with 2 extra back.. It was pleasiong to see our forwards could actually kick goals when they had space
vi) Eagles suck
vii) Hawthorn are a very very good football team, I someone feel better about last weekend.

i. Christmas and football don't go together.

ii. Alex Pearce is a 200 gamer in the making

iii. Jon Griffin is a footballer - which idiot said you can't play Griffin and Sandi in the same team?

Timmeh, I think Muzza must have been listening to the same commentators I was. I don't think it was anything he saw.
I) Tabs must keep playing, is it coincidence that Pav found some freedom and had shots on goal tonight.
ii) Our big bodied second tier players have to start dishing out heavy contact to the players hanging on to Fyfe and Hill, take one for the team Subes, De Boer etc.
iii) Griffen is a big part of our best 22, Clarke could learn a lot from watching how he goes about it.
iv) Sandi can mark the ball when he gets 2 hands in the air unimpeded.
v) Mikey is a superstar (what might have been last year?)
vi) Simon White owes Sam Mitchell a beer or 2.

Ah, hello Gidgegarry...

I was one of the people who said that both Griff and Sandi are no1 ruckman types and playing both in the same team over Clark would cost you some mobility around the ground.

While that's not really the same as saying you can't play them both at the same time, perhaps we allow you a healthy slice of cognitive dissonance in your sweaty haste to score a cheap point and move on, happy to bank the 4 points.

We always look to improve of course, so we'll go back and have a look, review as we always do and consider whether we gained more mobility around the park with Sandi playing as the spare ruck type while we look at our best option for the no1 ruck position.

Because that is where the action is at, just as it was before Griff did his knee.

to make it crystal clear for you... I'll spell it out.

The question is who is the best ruckman at Freo... Sandi or Griff.
