Before worrying about which player should go forward, shouldn't we be worried about how to get the ball forward?
If we had the best full forward in the league, it wouldn't have changed the fact that we only had 38 i50's vs the Hawks on Sunday (Freo's lowest for 2015). Having the best forwards in the business will mean you get a (slightly) higher goal to i50 conversion rate, but they can't just magically draw the football towards them.
Freo got belted in the midfield and if you watch the replay (with commentators muted), you would realise the umpiring was a major cause of that. Hawthorn does not need biased umpiring to beat Freo, but when that is added to the equation, it's no longer easy for D.Pearce and Fyfe to rack up the i50s that they normally do. Those i50s often come from clearances which often come from Sandiland's hitouts to advantage. That becomes very difficult when Sandilands is being illegally prevented from contesting the ruck ... several times clearly right in front of the controlling field umpire (jumper being pulled, arm held, being blocked, pushed out of the contest from boundary throwin, etc ...).
