TOPIC: Forward Line

Why would a key forward want to come and play for Fremantle when they don't get to stand near the goals!

A lot of our problems tonight stemmed from the ball either bouncing out of a fwd line not set up correctly or players through the centre taking crap options cause they had nothing in front of them.

Garbage Lyon. Utter crap.

The forward line was a dog's breakfast. There's not enough respect paid to what Matthew Pavlich can do to his opponent with a bit of space.

Shouldn't this be all Barlow's fault?

Apart from the dropped marks, the turnovers, the fumbles, the falling over with no one around and giving Collingwood plenty of space, and still winning despite it being 18 v 21, I think they played great.

Agree that the forward line looks dysfunctional, but Ross simply isn't going to restructure things to fix our forward woes which might put at risk our ability to get back in transition and defend across the ground.

We are 37-0 when we kick 12 goals or more. Ross has found a formula to win, and it doesn't involve us kicking 20 goals each week, as much as we'd all love to see that.

I thought half of our first goals which came from crumbing contests where from the contests Pav was providing and bringing the ball to ground.

In other words Pav was filling Taberners role. Not sure who was filling pav's role but.

I tell you this - you won't beat hawthorn in a GF kicking twelve goals.

Four games in a row we've played in slippery conditions not suited to forwards. Before that our forward line looked good, albeit Ballas hasn't hit his straps.

Some perspective please.

OK Hyphen, I'll bite the hook ... you do realise Hawthorn beat us in the 2013 GF with 11 goals (& 11 points).

PM, regarding Ross's winning formula when we kick 12 goals or more, it's actually 41 wins in a row now. The last loss was 2012 R20 vs Adelaide.

Morgan is on the mark, the fact that Pav, Hannath, Jesse White and Cloke coined for a grand total of zero goals will attest to the fact that last night wasn't one for the tall forwards. I went down to the ground for the post-match kick-to-kick with a few of my mates, and we were all stunned at how dewy and slippery it was...our football was like a cake of soap within minutes, making marking ridiculously difficult, so I think under the circumstances, Pav's role of bringing the ball to ground was an appropriate tactic for the night...

Gotta admit that I'm still yet to be convinced about Hannath though...and I'm praying Ballas hits his straps with regards to his crumbling and goal kicking, still can't fault his endeavor one bit...
