Seems like a bit of a loophole that should be fixed up trading in players with an injury and then being able to trade them back out due to the same injury.

Fyfe hasn't been ruled out for the season by Freo. So by my reckoning, once that player has served six weeks with The Chevrons, he could be traded out if his diagnosis was changed to season-ending.

I don't think it's a loophole. It would be a loophole if I picked him up five weeks out from the season ending, hoping he might be available for R23 and then trying to trade him out under the LTI rule.

I don't see it as a loophole. If you pick up a player on the LTI list, you are restricting your weekly selections to choosing from a diminished squad in the hope that the LTI player comes good later down the track. That's a risk-reward strategy that I think is quite reasonable.

I think picking someone like Fyfe or Johannisen is fine they haven't been listed as season and there is a chance they may play later in the year, just as I have Roughead wrapped in cottonwool, kicking back waiting for the business end of the season.
Not sure about picking someone like Murphy or Swan though that have been listed as season already just to keep a LTI trade up you sleeve for later in the season.

I just need another week or two of Currie crabbing it up so Idiot Eade stops playing him and gets Nicholls back in the side. If DOUGAL can fill in for a week or two I'll be stoked. The Hoff taking 2 marks in the ruck for us last week without a hit out didn't have me too confident in Nicholls absence.

Wow - three coaches came here looking for Dougal. Oos has already traded him in, and then straight back out again. He's got a cool name, sure, but there is better out there if you are looking for a backup ruck.

Peter Wright would have been perfect for Biz, very likely to play many games and will help in the ruck whenever Nicholls is out. Last week, he had 4 hitouts and 8 marks, that's a score of 10 in the ruck, he also got 10 as a backman and 10 as a forward.

Rory Lobb is averaging 3.6 hitouts and 4.2 marks a game, but also kicking goals. Freo will target him in a big way at the end of the year. When Mumford gets injured, Lobb will be No. 1 ruck.

Dougal in his one game managed four hitouts and no marks for a ruck score of 2.

Some people are desperate though, Nelson.

In fairness to Dougal, the game he did play, he only played limited minutes and as a key forward, not as the number-one ruckman.

Ivan Maric is also not the same opponent as Sauce Jacobs. I think it was a good trade if you were desperate for someone to pinch hit for a week or two.

Yes, with Lobbe out there is more potential for a better ruck score, agreed. I still would have gone with one of the others though. I'm guessing you would have gone with Jon Giles.

With the large number of trades available to use I'm more than happy to have DOUGAL for a couple of weeks then go to someone else once he's dropped. We're lucky in the fact we don't have to patch up an unbalanced squad and burn through trades so they are basically free hits at this sort of thing if a problem arises.

I feel like DOUGAL is a missed opportunity for Polly and his squad. Can you imagine the names he would come up with when setting his line up?!
