I'm a little nervous here but I'm venturing to state a position and ask a more systemic question.
Been a Dockerland follower and occasional poster for around 20 years. I have loved this virtual safe space and feel such a mounting sense of loss, having farewelled dear pricem, pollyanna, oos, and many others over the yeras, and now it seems our leader is fading. I used never to leave the house on game day without the dockerland budget in my pocket and I miss the days when guy smiley would take on carneagles and jordo would come up with a song (where have they gone?). And my kids (now approaching middle-age) were the origin of 'the men with the wope' trope that had quite a good recurrent run.
Losing the site (i.e. the discussion board) for a month was a real shock and it knocked a really big hole in my enjoyment of the game.
I can't make the proposed gathering but I'm unsure about it anyway--would I really want to meet the real people behind the virtual handles and lose the mystique? (Also you all seem to be quite blokey and I'm not sure I would be a fit.)
But I think it's so important to keep the Dockerland flame burning. Is there another way of keeping in touch? Or a way of preserving this space more securely?
Don't want to lose you again
