Yup, a long way from it based on yesterday's match.
Sad part is that it's mostly a talent gap. Losing 5 or 6 starting 25 players over the last several years (mostly just girls wanting to experience the big footy world over east), only being exposed to WA draft until recently and only a few recruiting successes has put us behind. At least now we can get stuck into a national draft which should see us claw our way back over the next 4-5 years.
The next step is to go back to the game plan that suited our skill level. Expecting the current talent base to execute the current plan is a bit optimistic in my opinion. Our skills were woeful yesterday, esp kicking, marking and decision-making, and with the age of the team, it's going to be a while before they build this up. Back to the high pressure and 'just bang it forward' approach that gave us success a few years ago.
