People who thought a 92 point win against Melbourne was all about Freo were only about 50% correct. Sure, the team played well but who wouldn't against mistake-riddled witches hats regardless of where they were on the ladder.

You either turn up to play for 4 quarters or you don't. Freo only lasted a quarter yesterday. This happened last season when just as they were getting back on track, the bye ruined their chances of making the 8.

A loss says more about the loser than the winner most of the time. Hopefully the blowtorch will be applied by supporters, media, etc. during the week and the team will respond as they should against a hapless away team next Sunday.

We’ve had some serious runs throughout the season, not of the winning game variety.

Better to have this type of performance now than in August.
Lets hope this sends the message to all the players to commit 100% full pressure efforts for the full 4 quarters like their life relies on it.
Anything else is unacceptable.

We seemed a bit off, and teams don’t need to be off by much to get put to the sword. I’m always nervous about the games that start in the Perth morning, and after a bye. In combination it didn’t go well.

I also think the game could have swung differently had we capitalised on a few of those simple sent shots in the second quarter. Once teams start confidently running forward with impunity and hedging forward on stoppages it can be really hard to reign it in. That’s when defending teams look slow. It’s not just leg speed, it’s that other players are getting a few metres head start in anticipation of winning the ball. The Bulldogs best is pretty good, and we didn’t give them enough to worry about going the other way to have them second-guessing.

Also, we are a little bit slow. When we’re playing well there is really good pressure on the ball and we force teams to kick long under pressure and we mop up. If opposition teams can get it out of the initial ring of pressure, they can run away from us a little and the kicks go deeper into our defence where we’re a little exposed.

That slowness is exploited when there is real sting in the game, early.

My on ballers for the first 15 minutes - Jackson, Switkowski, Serong and Johnson. Wings are Sharp and Frederick.

Fyfe, Darcy, O Meara and Brayshaw sitting down.

I think this is where we get exploited at the start of games. We are slow by foot.

Before I start, I am one of JLo's biggest fans and think he can get us a flag but while I don't mind JLo's explanations about lack of pressure and low tackle count and all the other excuses but I really don't like being bullshitted to about the Bontempelli debacle. He said they tried tagging, when!!! Apparently Bonts was sick during the week and must have been a great ploy by the Bulldogs because not one Freo player went anywhere near him for the whole game for fear of catching whatever contagious bug he supposedly had. This was an absolutely disgraceful coaching effort by all concerned as there didn't seem to be any changes made mid match to stop what happened. I actually thought he missed a huge opportunity to test out and develop Matt Johnson when he entered the match. He should have been sent straight to Bontempelli with orders to wear him like a glove and follow and harass him wherever he went but no , this would have been to left field for JLo. Sorry Justin you have to do better than that if you really want to deliver us a Premiership.

Hypen, you'd better watch out - Morgan is trying (perhaps unintentionally) to usurp you.

As for the game, I was there and the main thing that struck me was that when the ball was in dispute, the Doggies came out with it more often than not, and that wins matches. Now I'm not going to go full-on conspiracy here, but there was a brief piece of the second quarter where the umps decided that you no longer needed prior opportunity to be caught holding the ball, and 3 quick frees against Freo players were paid. After which the umpiring reverted to normal. That may have been part of why we were a bit tentative about picking up the ball. At least I try telling myself anything to avoid the obvious - we were rubbish.

But a much better conspiracy came from my Melbourne-based brother-in-law. Remember how the week before the Collingwood game Jlo had complained about the treatment Amiss has been receiving? And then that free-kick reversal about 100 m away from where Jye supposedly did something wrong, which resulted in a Pies goal? The conspiracy theory is that was just the umpires getting back at us for implying that they weren't looking after Jye. Now surely there are no thin-skinned umpires with big egos...

Bont is the best player in the league… when playing Freo.

Gumnut is spot on...

Someone tell me why J-Lo doesnt make 'in game' changes??

Its not right. ! He 'sticks to his mid weeks structures & processes" .

It suggest he knows more than everyone else. ..

And he doesn't!!

Its hopeless coaching, and he needs to change. He can also stop playing favourites.

I'd love to know what he tried on the weekend, and i'd love to know if anyone saw it...??

Agree Cletus, in game changes when things aren’t going to plan is what makes a great coach.

Remind me to never disagree with Hypen again.

In other news, police have located the Freo bandwagon:

So, we have lost 5 games this year. 3 of them (Carlton, Port, Sydney), we were in it but couldn't put a score on the board (or got robbed by the umps). We even made lots of chances in the Swans game. 2 of them we've been pantsed. And then we've drawn with the reigning premiers (with a long injury list, but still some very good players).
At various points, we've led the league in stoppages and score against. Lots to like for young team, with even our best players still having lots of development yet to do...

I think an anti-Hypen is needed, so here goes: Suns have lost their past 13 road games - that sounds like a record just waiting to be broken.
