Our good is very good but our bad is terrible. Freo needs 23 contributors and today there were too many passengers. Fyfe, Clark, sharp, Ryan, Freddy and Amiss all had pretty poor games. Whether that’s the bye, the travel, the age or believing their own press who knows but that’s typical freo. The roller coaster of following this team continues.

Losing after a bye meets expectations, nothing to see here. This team never fails to disappoint.

However, the size of the loss is damning - one of the best defences in the league gave up 149 points against a side missing two key forwards.

Fortunately they will be on the rebound against GCS who can't win an away game.

The lack of desperation was telling. From the other side of the country it looked like one team wanting to step in and tackle to create pressure and another standing off by so much that pressure on the ball carrier was just poor. Tackles, spoils, smothers, seemed way down on what is expected and required.

It’s not getting ahead of yourself, whatever this really means, but it certainly seemed like a level of contentness producing a lack of intensity.

I didn’t think it was shite, but definitely very, very disappointing. Walters was missed after he went off, there’s no one else who seems to organise the forward line.

Two observations about Footscray: 1) they can conjure free kicks out of thin air AND they have the game’s very best free kick winner in Cody Weightman, who makes Jack Darling look like a rank amateur at staging for frees and 2) they contest for the ball way better than Freo.
