10. 1= 61
1 10 =16

Hard to come back from that.

I enjoyed watching the hard tackling of our forwards and the Swans defenders will be sore today but forwards need to kick goals and ours didn’t

Our ability to kick to our own players is a is abysmal at times.

A) for effort
D) for execution

Hope they practice kicking and catching at this week’s training

I didn't like our forward craft last night.

Resembled some of my origami in double maths classes.

As you all know english is my strength and was never that interested in math.

I think our defensive small forwards would be ok if we had goal scoring mids. The butchery of Brayshaw, Fyde and Serong is really hurting us. Their entries and shots are embarrassing at the moment. If the mids can’t kick goals, and you’re picking defensive small forwards you’re just not going to score enough.

But I’m not sure what options there are. I’d pick Sturt. but it’s not like he’s an All Australian waiting in the wings.

In the circumstances a dip last night can be forgiven but these issues aren’t new.

As a team over the season 6th for contested possessions, but 15th for inside 50s and 12th for scoring. To me that tells me we can win the ball and our forwards are outperforming their opportunities, but we can’t get it to them.

Did the absence of sonson organising our forward line contribute to the disconnect between the mids and the forwards?
Just asking because if it is true it is a major issue to be addressed.

I suppose since eaglesflyinghigh.com bit the dust, the sad loners and losers who regularly posted bile on there have there no outlet for their malevolence. Too bad, but DD is not a replacement.

I think Sturt not playing speaks to what the coach values. The more I watch the game the more i think good kicking skills are the most important part of the game.

Banfield plays ahead of Sturt. They play the same position in a different way. What Banfield brings is valued more than what Sturt can do. Thing is Sturt can acquire the strengths Banfield has. Doesn't work the other way.

Sturt is a good player who will benefit from the emerging talls we have.

Sam Sturt not named for Peel either, reason given soreness??
How about Delean if he shows something today? Brady Grey might be useful if he were still on our list, gets nearly 30 disposals a game.

Simple as this, and stated by Gumnut & CA...

Got to have goal kickers up there. I see no point in playing a defensive forward, lest not 2 in the same team. And, then play mikey as sub.

Have no idea why Cooper Simpson, did not plsy ...he has zip...& x factor. So does freddie. And Mikey, though that has deteriorated.

Instead our dumb selection commitee plays Switta , Emmott, and no Mikey
.. and, in a game where there was some potential for rain.

Yep. Kicking points all night, doesn't help, ...but i can't help feeling that we are - as a club - continually let down by our selection committee.

Frederick looked injured from about half way through the first quarter, no explosive pace and his kicking was soft. Walters could have helped, but the big problems were that our forwards were allowed to be manhandled by Sydney, but it didn't work the other way, and our tackling was not rewarded the way Sydney's was.

As long as we value tackling over kicking goals and play 3 smalls who all do the same thing g, we’re not kicking anywhere near the score we need to win

They got 80% right last night. Unfortunately, all of the wrongs were in front of goals. Coincidentally, this happened as we came up against one of the best pressure sides in the comp. It's a young team, composure under pressure will come.

No need to panic.

The short passing game that Sydney thrive on absolutely killed us ,I really want to watch the replay and count how many times they just cruised out of their backline with 4 or 5 short kicks then goal.
Everyone around us were screaming just man up.
It's the Longmuire way ,surely our coaching staff knew that was exactly the way they were going to play.
Also on four occassions right in front of us Johson was twice all alone just outside the fifty arc,no one anywhere near him waving his arms and screaming but no we just kicked it into a congested forward line.Cannot remember the other two players .
Standing all alone but the same result,,but Johnson every game gets alone anywhere but they rarely kick it too him?why?
I suppose the Sydney way which has been around for ages they keep getting knocked out of finals,so maybe their gameplan does not work for finals.

Cooper Simpson hit the scoreboard for Peel earlier today for 2 goals, Jack Delean 1 and Tabs 1. Obviously we're not going to be calling on Tabs at this stage but surely Simpson comes in next week with Freddie going out. Switta should go out for either Erasmus or Brodie as they can both attack and may improve our scoring prospects. Darcy comes in, if fit, probably for Voss but he looks more likely to kick goals than Amiss in recent games so there may be a hard decision to make there. Liam Reidy with 5 hitouts surely has to come under consideration if Darcy doesn't come up
Watched a bit of Hawthorn's win over St Kilda and Lloyd Meek had the wood on Marshall so Darcy playing could turn the tables on the Saints
