The Neil Sachse case of 1975 is a long time ago but some of these collisions we are seeing today are eerily similar to the one which paralysed him in only his 2nd VFL game

The biggest concern with this call is it shows how inconsistent the match review panel already is in just 5 weeks, not that I expected anything different.
The AFL comes out and makes plenty of noise around the head being sacrosanct, and rightly so, and we are already seeing head high bumps going unpunished.

Sacrosanct is about as horrible a word for what it means in this context as "concussion protocols" is for its obtuseness.

There are times when eyes on the ball is not OK anymore, particularly when the other bits of your body put someone's brain, spine and nervous system in jeopardy on the way through.

What worries me is that Footy media identities like Nathan Buckley and others are saying that Zak Butters has such a great way of attacking the ball at full pelt, a million miles an hour and as long as he goes for the ball or pretends to go for the ball as he did on Saturday when he hit Bailey, that he be encouraged and that's OK if he kills someone in the process. That completely goes against the blurb coming out of the AFL that he owes a duty of care to the guy with his head over the ball to not kill or maim him. Zero consistency by the MRO and I hope some ex players take them to the cleaners and win big money compo because of it.
