I feel this is all, to quote my teenage daughter, pretty "meh" in the scheme of things.

I would like to know a couple of things, though...
1. what Carlton were thinking in that draft: Call Henry at 9 - matched by Freo Academy priority, Call Tom Green at 10 - matche by GWS Academy priority, trade away their now pick 11 to Gold Coast who pick Ned (Sam) Flanders who is going to be a superstar, then come away with 17 Brodie Kemp, 20 Sam Philp and 47 Sam Ramsay.
2. How Carlton have had the wood over Freo on-field since then and are a serious finals challenger while Freo sit 14th in 2023.

Look at the next few names on the draft order available there 12 Kysaiah Pickett, 13 Will Day, 14 Miles Bergman, 15 Cody Weightman, 16 Cooper Stephens, 18 Mitch Georgiades, 19 Sam De Koning

Anyway, for anyone wanting to get their hands on young Liam, he is a hugely talented, game-breaking, match-winning winger with a massive amount of development investment from Freo. Genuine offers only, please.

Don't forget also
I) his cute hair style,
II) bumfluff mo and
III) a closet full of unsold Freo ties...

Hopefully Henry has a bit of an open mind about his destination club and there is enough interest that he able to choose a team that offers a good trade. If he chooses to go without a trade, I hope West Coast pick him up as they will get first shot haha

Good luck to him. I think Liam's value is way higher in his own mind than the evaluation from most of the footy community. But if another club needs a player of his type and is willing to pay more then we are, it is a smart move to go into the Trade.

I don't think this is a big loss for us. A loss, certainly. Big? No.

Unless he whacks one of our guys, I'll never boo Liam.

Tragic: Compare that to James Clement

So, so true. That scumbag, and you can quote me on that, sandbagged his final season Freo so the Club would be willing to trade him; he then skipped off to join Mick Malthouse. Source? James' interview on the Collingwood website.

I cheered on and agitated for Clement to be picked in the first 18 only to learn of his sandbagging in later years. James Clement is Fremantle's Benedict Arnold. Scumbag.

Good luck to him that's the swings and roundabouts of AFL. $600K if rumored is big $$ for a player that's been with us for 5yrs and only has started to deliver since June. No doubt Belly's offer was far less commensurate with service to date. Hopefully a fit strong preseason Walker will fill the void and we pick up a fair draft pick. We are destination club now and Henrys move will hopefully allow another gun like Emmett to be whistled aboard the "SS Docker"

A non-sandbagging Clement would have been very useful in ‘03 to calm the nerves so Webster wasn’t the only one to perform, and ‘06 to get us over the line against Sydney. So we win our first flag in a derby and then with that out of the way, ‘13 and ‘15 were premiership years. I blame James Clement for directly costing us three flags.

I’ll never boo hIm. I’ll just think ‘you ungrateful @#$%&* when I see him playing, unless we do well out of the process, then I’ll likely cheer him.

  • I’ve been watching his body language since the rumour tread mill started mid season-ish.
He was acting very similar to Lobb two seasons ago and the players were responding to him in a similar way, very distant.
He was always on the outer, leaving the field away from the group except with Son Son doing his best to include him.
He was gone many months ago.

Didn’t he want to go last year? If he did then he has done us a favour by playing good football for the last half of the year because we would have got us a lot less last year.

$600k isn’t that what Lobb and Logue got offered to move. Would rather pay Henry $600k this year than Lobb last year, probably would be happier to pay Griff $600k then Henry but I don’t really think any of them are $600k players

Didn't we low ball Acres to keep this clown? He was the future apparently. He was the cover in case Acres left. He won't last 12 months in Victoria. Should have paid Acres $600k and got rid of Henry last year.

None of them are, Eggy. And the precedent it sets. If you are say, Cam Zurhaar or even Tarryn Thomas, who has played more games than Henry and a vastly better player. What's their worth if Henry is 600k?

I know Thomas has his issues. But he's not on 600k before they went down.

Only my view, but a Luke Ryan or Lachie Shultz who’ve ‘worked’ before getting to AFL Hollywood would have a bit of perspective of $ and loyalty. A private school lad who has been preened for five years and likely never worked a day in their life and who starts their career with a bottle of bleach in their extended hand has no perspective.

Give Lachie Shultz a pay rise and Henry a kick out the door. Every game we’re in awe of the effort given by Schultz, it’s worth watching games for that.

Good luck to Liam, but better luck to us in getting a good trade for him.
