Is that "I want to go home Lobb" who is from W.A. but wanted to go back to GWS in N.S.W. although they didn't want him so he went back home to WB in Vic which isn't really his home?

Logue, plays forward for North Melbourne,

Acres, plays for Carlton.

Lobb, just playing awfully.

All three were players we wanted to keep who could have been playing for a good club on good money.

Colin Young. I don't think Colin Young is very good at what he does.

I'm not sure we wanted to keep Lobb or Acres, we just said what needed to be said so as not to devalue them too much as trade prospects.

Hyphen, I guess it depends on what you think Colin Young’s desired outcome is when pushing his players for a trade.
Given he likes to try to get their contracts front loaded and then wriggle out of the last season or two suggests he is trying to increase his % split for management fee.
He is a grub.

He is Purple Shades. Not one of those lads are better off in a football sense. What, Acres got an extra 75k a year did he? Halve it for tax. 3k a month extra when 25k can a month.
This Fremantle side is capable of big big things. Carlton have four outstanding players. Carlton are exactly where they should be.

But Young would have taken them through all that.

You're thinking that a few years earning $100k more a year shouldn't matter to a footy player that only has about 10 years to get set up.

That's stupid - the worst reason of all is a self assumed myth that one club has more promise than another during that decade.

$110k extra in anyone's bank account would be more than welcome.

But it's not an extra 100k it's half that. That's the marginal tax rate for you folks!

So then it's, maybe weighing up more things than money. Location, team. As I say his manager would have taken him through all that and he's made a balanced turd of a decision.

You don't understand how it works, hypen. Footballers are all in it for the love of the game, pride in the jumper and the comradery... but they are often led astray by managers and women. who lure them into making bad choices.

"“He was offered $180,000, that was the offer he was given (by Fremantle). He’s been offered $350,000 over the next three years (by Carlton),” he said."

I don't know if the article was true or not, but for an extra $510,000 over three years ($255,000 after tax), I'd also be saying thanks very much, but I'll see myself out. On top of that, a good accountant would be able to get him almost the full value, so potentially between 4000-7000 a game to pay for the Blues.

Even if you didn't rate Acres, you'd still be willing to pay him more than $180,000 a season.

Yep, Amiss is a beauty, and I'm glad to see Carlton reaping the benefits after stealing Acres from us...

I have a lot of admiration for Tabs. He’s obviously worked really hard over the years to turn himself into a good AFL footballer. In the right situation I think he’s really useful.

The problem for him and Freo was that he was a role player being asked to play as if he was a dominant key forward, and trying to do so while he and Rory Lobb took turns getting into each other’s way. How anyone thought that slowing the ball movement down and kicking it long to Tabs/Lobb was a recipe for a top 8 attack is absolutely beyond me.

Amiss has forward instincts and enough burst speed to get separation from his defender. He’s also operating in a forward line with more space. He’s being set up to succeed in a way Tabs never was.

If Tabs is injury free, he’s a better player right now than Treacy, but I really can’t see a spot for Tabs in our team. If both Hodor and Jackson are playing, and you’ve got Amiss forward with Fyfe in large chunks, then you can’t carry another guy who is bad on the deck and can’t put on forward pressure. If Jackson or Hodor are out, then you probably need Treacy in for back-up ruck duties.

He’s too good to be purely injury cover, but I think that’s his role now.
