He has not got one more arduous voyage to Marvel stadium left in him.

He saw the writing on the wall with the current list and packed it in. If they didn't make finals this season then they were likely to have a bunch of retirements and enter a rebuilding phase where he'd get the sack anyway. He left before they slid too far.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Bizz, he has a good example of where he could have ended his coaching career right here in Perth at the moment. He jumped while there were still lifeboats to jump into.

Hardwick is still relatively young, has a second to none record as a player and coach and will be refreshed and ready to go again by the end of the season. He will be much sought after. Gold Coast? WCE? Carlton? and
inaugural coach of Tassie Devils?

The issue with the slime sacking Simpson is that he's contracted until the end of 2025 and it will cost them $800 000 and break their soft salary cap or football department spending.

Too bad, too sad.

CA, I knew there was a good reason to keep him on as coach. Now, if only we can get Nizzyee to change his mind and stay on beyond 2024.

The impressive thing about the timing is that there'll be a significant number of Eagle supporters, quietly hopeful, allowing themselves to have hopeful thoughts. Glorious.

Much as I’m not a Hardwick fan, it’s not a bad decision by him (apart from the abruptness of it). It’s a tough gig, and he may not feel like he’s up for the rebuild which is fair enough. Any coach who has made it past the 10 year mark at the same club needs to seriously consider moving on before they destroy their legacy.
He’s been very well paid for more than a decade. Better to go on your own terms than be pushed.

It's a good decision from his point of view. I don't think he serves the football club well by just leaving the moment he feels like it.

What's the bet in a few weeks we see "there's more to the Hardwick departure" headlines?

Or "questions to answer" was the favourite for a few years wasn't it?

I'd rather this scenario than what we had to put up with Lyon trying to cling on when not wanted.

Walter I like what you said and can apply this to when it comes to Mrs Expat...

"Any "Bloke" who has made it past the 10 year mark at the same ..... needs to seriously consider moving on before they destroy their legacy."

and then Shane is right too...

"It's a good decision from his point of view. I don't think he serves the ...... well by just leaving the moment he feels like it."

then Itsacraptular has a good point...

"What's the bet in a few weeks we see "there's more to the ...... departure" headlines?
Or "questions to answer" was the "favourite" for a few years wasn't it?"

But Corp has a good point...

"I'd rather this scenario than what we had to put up with ..... trying to cling on when not wanted."

Yep, "Not Wanted" is the key here...

Thanks for the councelling guys.
