Stunned at the lack of response to my "Big Bird" nickname.
Aside from the obvious physical resemblance between the muppet character and our new draftee, "Hugh Davies" sounds like "Huge Aves". Now, I'm sure you're all aware that "huge" means "really, really big", but, having achieved a C in the O grade Latin exam of 1982 (it was an easy paper that year) I was able to recognise that "aves" is Latin for "birds" - hence Huge Aves - Big Bird.
It is quite clearly the most intellectually high brow nickname ever contrived on Dockerland and I'm somewhat disappointed at the lack of recognition from the highly developed brains that inhabit this site.
