Freo have four 6 day breaks and one 5 day break. How is this fair for a non Victorian team that has more travel?

Melbourne, in comparison, has two 6 day breaks and a five day break with less travelling.

This result is unsurprising. With a large proportion of our experienced players gone or injured, we fielded a very young and inexperienced team yesterday, including a train-on player. Most of the missing players are forwards, making scoring that much more difficult. TBH, this game result - and the one Covid affected one last year where we had a train-on player - should have an asterisk in the record books.

Most of the players not in the side were the ones with the skills and composure to do what other posters have said was missing. In contrast, Pies had a much higher average age / games played. Even so, we had the edge in play all second half. We might even struggle to beat the expansion sides last two rounds if we don't get some more experience back on the ground.

I guess someone’s got to cop it after a season like that but it seems particularly unfair in this case, since he was working without almost all of the attacking weapons he has had the last couple of seasons.

Perhaps it has something to do with why so many of those attacking weapons left? I don't know much about what's going on with our AFLW team, but that was quite an exodus at the end of last season

We weren't missing that many players let alone important ones (mostly Ebony Antonio) and performed very poorly. We even struggled to beat the new leper clubs throughout the year. Tactically, we haven't evolved from the first season and skills wise, we have improved far below the average side.

Cooper seemed like a really good people person and communicator but lacked the ability to upskill players, teach them tactics, where to move instinctively and how to construct a viable tactical set up to transition the ball.

It was obvious in the past couple of seasons when we came up against good sides and had no answers to their game style, repeatedly doing the same thing without any change in tactics or ball movement. About the only moves I've seen from the coach are to throw O'Driscoll forward or a slight positional change for a player. It wasn't good enough in the modern game and where women's football is quickly heading and we're being left behind.

I hope we can find someone able to teach the girls well and developing them quickly.

Only Houghton and Cain left for greener pastures (Duffy wasn't on the list any longer), the latter to take on Essendon co-captaincy, so the lack of cattle was more injury-induced (Antoniox2, Morrison, Sargeant) and under-cooked A-graders (Miller and Bowers had no pre-season). On top of that, many of the rest are very young and what's left after Eagles get their 47 picks each year.

Only the first couple of games were of concern. Cooper rallied the girls well after that. Had both Melbourne and Crows (far superior teams) on the back foot at 3/4 time.

As someone mentioned, Coops is a great people coach and always got the girls up but, above excuses aside, it probably is time for a more footy-smart coach. K Antonio anyone? She's done a lot of coaching...
