If Tanner Bruhn and Tim Taranto are worth first round picks, then so is Lobb by a country mile. It's all to do with value to the team as related to the game plan. Dunkley and Lobb are different players but play specific roles within the game plan. In that regard in my view Lobb is worth more than Dunkley to WB's game plan. Having said that I would take a f1st + 'something' for Lobb and give WB 'something' - provided we get LJ + 'something' form Melbourne.

Lobb at 29/207 would have more footy experience than either Bruhn or Taranto. Talls like him are rare. He gives WB what they want immediately i.e., forward line experience (scoring goals) and ruck experience. He takes pressure off Naughton and English and young Sam Darcy. This is what the WB want now. They are pushing right now to make sure they hold their place in the 8 and move up into premiership contention, like us. This is the reason we also want Lobb to stay here. He's worth every bit of a 1st rnd pick.

I understand your view, but Grundy is more valuable and younger than Lobb and there is no way he is going for a first round pick.
I might be wrong but I can't think of any player at his age being worth that.

If you are giving up a first round pick for players who, irrespective of how good they are, only play for 70 or so games, if you are consistently doing that - you will be a bottom four club most the time.

In the end it doesn't really matter what I think it comes down to how much value the WB and Freo respectively place on Lobb's contribution to their game plan and structure and 'premiership' prospects in the coming year. I don't see the relationship between the Lobb situation and the Grundy case. The Grundy case is an out and out salary dump to ease salary cap issues and player payments including those outside the club (viz. Adam Trealor at WB).

From the Freo perspective what is Lobb’s value next year as a 30yo uncontracted player? Maybe late 30s pick? Is the value he adds to our team next year worth a slide from 21 to 37?
Personally I think it is, hence unless we get overs we should keep him one more year, let amiss get the third best defender while he learns the role at AFL level, plus you never know, he may be the difference between making a GF and winning one.
