Im probably more surprised that people on Dockerland are shocked by this report. Win a flag at any cost is the mantra of most AFL teams. Win the flag and then deal with any fall out afterwards, but who cares, we won the flag. West Coast being a prime example.

The whole Indigenous round, welcome to country wheeled out by the AFL is purely lip service to a much more complex issue. It is not changing the outcomes for First Nations people. It's a corporate tick in the box to satisfy "community expectations". ANZAC day is the same, we have the AFL hijack ANZAC day, meanwhile veterans are killing themselves at unprecedented rates. AFL doesn't care any more about First Nations people than it does veterans. It's all just fulfilling a corporate responsibility without helping anyone and the media lap it up. They need to get rid of these ridiculous themed rounds. The hypocrisy is galling.

Basically, they're delaying Clarkson's appointment until after the investigation is complete (Clarkson is still technically employed by Hawthorn as coach until 31st October).

The AFL will say they can't control the culture at individual clubs, but of course they set the example letting mid-2000s West Coast basically get off scott-free.

Mad/Sad-Malthouse saying "I never had difficult conversations with Harry O'Brien" (repeatedly using that name, refusing to use Héritier) made me finally realise the industry is full of f'king horrific dinosaurs.

The AFL 'tried' to seem tough on Essendon when there was a world body involved, but the people that 'run' this sport won't be interested in anything at all that slows the chase for more dollars.

North Melbourne are on a hiding to nothing. They should be certainly scrambling for a Plan B because the alternative is untenable, even pending the outcome of subsequent reviews. I don't even know how to process how anyone thinks this can end 'well' for Clarkson. Any corporates supporting North would already be in crisis mode that they didn't see coming yesterday.

Unless something comes to light that proves Clarkson did not say the things mentioned in the news article, he simply cannot be employed to coach a team of footballers at any level.

Unless, of course, a King's Counsel gets involved and brings up matters of procedure and error at law.

North Melbourne are up carp creek without a paddle. Brisbane are wading at the shoreline. What a week for all this to go public!

The allegations made are clearly shocking in their nature. A judicial court would expect all parties have been afforded due process and natural justice in the Hawthorn ‘review’, and any future investigation, and that’s a reasonable thing to expect.

On Wednesday evening, the league announced that AFL Commissioner Andrew Newbold, who served as Hawthorn President from 2012 to 2016, had taken a leave of absence to assist in the independent investigation.
