Zorro, Gaff is a different species altogether. He deserves boing at every opportunity available. However, I would not boo an ex Freo player.

Maybe I’m being overly sentimental and I get the end of contract stuff, but how can you be a true clubman when you’ve got the eye wandering get more money kink?
We gave Acres a career lifeline.
We gave Logue a reason why other clubs took notice.
We continue to give Brod and Clark game time when other clubs wouldn’t.
Think of McManus, Pavlich, et al who weren’t seduced by the paycheck and enjoyed brilliant careers at Freo.
I get the Tucker and Meek wanting to get some more game time elsewhere. I get the I want to come home but after my contract is finished but but if I was Melbourne I would be pissed.

Like Lachie Neale and Fagen, Logue too was sweet-talked by a short-ass coach.

I get the sentimentality Snail, but those days went as soon as players became full time professionals. How often would you say no to an extra $200k p.a. if your career only lasted a few years.
The old values don’t have a place in the AFL. It’s a bit like wanting all your players to have grown up in Freo, or going onto the oval for a half time kick. It may be sad but you’re raging against the machine.

Acres already returned the favour by playing better than we paid him.

Peter Bell is stubborn and arrogant.

My understanding is Acres is leaving his home state for a three year deal at 350k. We were offering less per year and less on contract term.

I think a flexible not so arrogant person makes the necessary adjustments to keep Acres. This is not huge dollars or high risk. It's disappointing.

I think Logue getting 4.5million or whatever it is over five years is too much money. Too much risk.

Acres is leaving because he is not the boss in the house.

My brother is die hard long-term north supporter (who hates WCE and so has a soft spot for Freo) and would watch 6 or 7 Freo games per year.

He is very unexcited that they have poached Griff and NOT HAPPY AT ALL with what the reports of what GL is being offered. He agrees with most Freo supporters that he is a utility player at best and likely wont hold up a KP spot in a successful team.

That's all good and well but why would you put any weight in the opinion of someone who chooses to support North Melbourne.

He’s fortunate he’s going to NM he will be CHB with them. They are a long way from becoming a successful club.

At full strength next year I don’t see him in our best 18. He has been squeezed out of our defence and unlikely to be a full time forward if Tabener and Amiss stay fit and Jackson slots in. He isn’t a mid. So where do we play him. Spare parts nan off the bench?

Fair go Shane, he was a young tacker when Cable was winning premierships for them off his own boot and a teenager when the Kakouer brothers went over there.

Plus he didn't follow the herd when all his mates jumped on the new WA state team that entered the VFL.

Respect.

he was dropped from the team early on in the season and made the most of opportunities to fill various gaps in our structure.

I reckon he could sense, with a fully fit squad, he may not get the same opportunities next season
