TOPIC: Griff Logue

Some reports are suggesting that North Melbourne have tabled a pretty decent offer for Griff. Freo may not be in a position to get anywhere near it financially. I for one think he stays but if he decides to leave I would be asking the question of Tarryn Thomas. He had a very lean year for various reasons and could want out. His 2021 was very good. Highly skilled player, big bodied mid that drifts forward and kicks goals.

Yes Zurhaar can play. Like his agro. I think I read he just extended for 2 years after the Clarkson signing.

Lounge started the year with "things to work on", didn't have a permanent spot in the backline/23 and was swung forward as an (inspired?) gamble "on" May for vs Melb. Ever since he's the messiah?

Don't get me wrong, I want him to stay but I also think we need to put games into Treacy, Sturt and I reckon Wilson or even Hamling would be selected in the backline ahead of him. *Hamling might retire though.

I don’t think anyone is saying he’s the messiah but he has gone past Hamling because of his versatility. That’s why a lot of clubs are keen on him as he can play multiple roles forward or back. Preference would be to keep him but not at any cost.

I think it would be a real shame if we lost Griff. The versatility aspect can't be underestimated. Sure, we have plenty of defenders but not many that can really play tall and, as a forward, he crashes the packs and is good at ground level. Plus, he wasn't too shabby when called upon to help out in the ruck. And he's still learning his craft too having only played 60 odd games.

Logue is going nowhere.

In one of Morgan's more agreeable insights, he mused that he has a tendency to misread the ball flight a bit and/or get easily tunneled under the ball. I think this is where the perception of him as not a natural footballer comes from. He'll get better at this. But, by gee, he gives an honest contest, does bring it to ground in a better way than Taberner and often Lobb, and when forward takes a bloody decent defender because if they don't put someone decent he has the potential to get off the leash.

Young Buck, Old Bull, don’t want to see both out of Freo next year.

I like his passion and support of team mates. Not sure he’s the best forward but you feel he could break free at anytime and that’s a good thing.

Just go have a quiet word with him before flying out on Thursday...
"Look, do you want to play at Peel or Freo this week? Here, sign this"...

Logue brings a lot of.physical presence when swung forward, more than Acres and perhaps Cox too.

Contracts are not worth the paper they are written on these days and can be re-negotiated.
Zurhar for Logue seems about right to me. That's if Logue really wants to go to NM.
